Disney World Discounts for Well into 2011 Announced

THREE NEW DISNEY DEALS FOR 2010 AND 2011

Walt Disney World has announced three new discount programs, each of which extends into 2011.

  • One discount offers free dining for many nights from 10/1/2010 through the end of September 2011.  (No, that’s not a typo…)  A five night stay with four days of tickets minimum is required.  The deal needs to be booked by December 20, 2010.  See this for more on the free Disney dining deal.
  • A second deal offers a Disney gift card valued from $200-$500.  Most dates from 10/3/2010 through February 16, 2011 are eligible—many more dates than are eligible for the dining plan.  A five night stay is required. The deal needs to be booked by November 21, 2010.  See this for more on the Disney gift card deal.
  • The third deal offers discounts of between 25% and 40% off of regular room rates, with the same dates and “buy by” details as the gift card.  No minimum length of stay has been defined—although Disney World’s website notes that “minimum length of stay requirements may apply for Friday and Saturday arrivals.”  See this for more on the Disney room rate discount deal.

The Fantasyland Expansion Plans Change?

(For an update on the material below, which is now out of date, click here!)

UPDATE ON WALT DISNEY WORLD’S FANTASYLAND EXPANSION PROJECT

Recent news has cast into doubt the Fantasyland expansion announced by Disney last year (and detailed here.)

Jim Hill (of JimHillMedia) first commented on the possibility here.

He noted that the Pixie Hollow development was being delayed, and that everything other than The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure and the Be Our Guest restaurant was being revisited, with the goal being to make the Disney World expansion more appealing to guests of all ages.

The New Fall Resort Price Season at Walt Disney World

THE NEW FALL PRICE SEASON AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

For 2011, Walt Disney World has made significant changes to the ways it increases and lowers prices at its resort hotels.

These changes have been continued in Disney’s 2012 price seasons.

These include

  • A new second value season with slightly higher prices than the first value season
  • A new second regular season with slightly higher prices than the first regular season, and
  • A totally new season—the “Fall” season

Disney World Releases 2011 Resort Prices

Walt Disney World has released its 2011 resort hotel prices, and you can now book packages with Walt Disney World (or a travel agent) through December 2011.

See  2011 price season at Walt Disney World for more.

(I was a little cocky in my initial post on this, and to aid humility have left my original material below…)

I got one date wrong in my forecast 2011 price seasons –I had the summer season beginning a week earlier than in fact it does.

I have fixed that, but continue to leave my 2011 price seasons  page labeled “forecast” and “projected” as there are some oddities in December 2011 that I need to resolve first before shifting it from forecast to actual.

More to come on December 2011.

Review: “Crowd Calendar 2.0” at touringplans.com

OVERVIEW: TOURINGPLANS.COM’S “CROWD CALENDAR 2.0”

The crew behind the Unofficial Guide—creators, among other things, of TouringPlans.com, Lines, and The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2011, have released a new version of their venerable daily crowd calendar.

The new release takes a great resource and makes it even better.

While it has many new features, the most important one is that the crowd predictions on the TouringPlans.com daily crowd calendar now match the most typical reason people look for crowd calendars. That is, the calendar now represents an estimate of general Walt Disney World theme park crowds on a given day.

Users of this site’s guidance on when to go, or its crowd calendar, or its itineraries, don’t need the touringplans.com daily crowd calendar.

But even so, it is a great and very affordable resource to use to double check my thoughts, valuable for all, and especially valuable for those designing their own itineraries.
