OVERVIEW: NOVEMBER 2011 AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

This page reviews November 2011 Walt Disney World crowds, prices, deals and discounts, weather, and operating hours, and ends with week by week summaries.

Early November, with cooling but typically nice weather, low crowds other than the week beginning 11/5 (Jersey Week), and lower prices, has some of the best weeks of the year to visit.

Thanksgiving week is more expensive, and much more crowded.

The last few days of the month are part of one of the three best weeks to visit Walt Disney World.

November also has two special  parties: the last shows of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and the first of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, each a special evening event–with its own ticket–that have become  family traditions for many.

The Candlelight Processional begins the Friday after Thanksgiving.

The 2011 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival continues into November. See this for more.

NOVEMBER 2011 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Much of November is one of the least crowded periods at Walt Disney World.

Crowds in the month hit a mini-peak over Jersey Week (beginning 11/5 in 2011) and are horribly high during Thanksgiving week (beginning 11/19), but are quite low the rest of the month.

See this for more on projected crowds at Walt Disney World.

NOVEMBER 2011 PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Value resort prices begin the month 15% higher than the lowest of the year, and moderate resort prices are 7% higher. Deluxe prices begin the month 12% higher than the lowest of the year.

All resort prices bump up over Thanksgiving week (specifically 11/19 to 11/25) by ~$25 (values and moderates) to ~$50 (deluxes) a night.

They drop back to the level at which they began the month on 11/26.

NOVEMBER 2011 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds.

The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available six months in advance.

The calendars can be tricky to use–see this for hints on how to work with Walt Disney World’s online calendars.

What a great website! We are going to be in L.A. For Thanksgiving weekend, departing the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. I have read that crowds are heavy that weekend, and we will be with a 4 and 22 month old so avoiding crowds as best we can would be great. Here is the question…our daughter turns 4 the Sunday after t-day, and I heard tickets are free on your birthday? If that’s still true, can we get way with goon Sunday, or is it likely to be so much better Monday (the last full day we have) it’s worth giving up a free ticket? We are staying an hour away so just intend to go to MK for one full day. Thanks for any advice!

Hi Anna, you said LA…this site is about Florida…in Florida, there’s no “free tickets on your birthday” anymore…dunno about the California parks. In general, Monday is a better day than Sunday…
