When I heard yesterday that Disney lifted the August blackout dates for the Silver and Resident AP holders, my first thought was “That’s nice of them!” Today I’m reading comments from a LOT of grossly unhappy people, some complaining it’s not fair to those who paid more for fewer blackout dates, but mostly stating this will crowd! the! parks! nightmarishly!!!

Honestly, I didn’t even think about that. I’m NOT worried about it, and it’s certainly not going to affect any of our plans, but I AM curious as to what you think, Dave. Bit of a bump in attendance or VISITOR-MAGEDDON?????? 😉

Jennifer, Touringplans.com thinks it might result in a one or two point increase in crowding. One would think particularly so at the Great Movie Ride.

Jennifer – I agree with Dave. I don’t think you’ll see a huge rush of crowds. But this has given Disney’s loyal fans the chance to experience both Ellen’s Universe of Energy and The Great Movie Ride one more time before the close forever.

And Kelly, I’m all for that. Part of the reason I decided to make the trip was to visit the Great Movie Ride one last time, and I’m glad everyone gets that chance. The vitriol directed at the decision to lift the blackouts has REALLY blown me away, though.

Among some fans, vitriol happens, but only in response to two things:
–Disney does something
–Disney does not do something
