PINTEREST USERS: PLEASE PIN AWAY!

I recently updated my copyright page so that it’s clear Pinterest users are welcome to pin copyrighted images and charts from here.

Here’s the new language:

Pinterest users have my permission to pin in the normal pinterest way (that by default creates a link back to this site without you having to do anything) any number of my images that you think will be helpful to you, or to your friends or followers, or that just help you create or recall happy memories.

I don’t have a pinterest page for the site–just like I don’t have a facebook page–for the simple reason that I barely have enough time to keep up with this site, much less maintain others. 

Someday that may change, but in the meantime, if you want to see what others have pinned from here, see this. (Give it some time to load.)

THE MOVE IT! SHAKE IT! CELEBRATE IT! STREET PARTY

Move It Shake It Celebrate It–I’m dropping the exclamation points–is a combined minor parade and brief dance party that happens several times each day at the Magic Kingdom.

I find it somewhat awkwardly named–must I also celebrate that which I am otherwise delighted to move and shake?–but otherwise a hoot, and the equal to better known and more widely anticipated and attended formal afternoon parades, like the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun Parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

But you won’t find it in this site’s itineraries, nor in its Comprehensive Guide to Rides and Attractions.  Why? And why might that be changing? [Read more →]

DISNEY WORLD HOOP-DEE-DOO REVUE CLOSURE?

Update 6/10/2012: DiningDiva says that Hoop will begin re-booking June 12 for the October-December dates, and that new show times have been the cause of the booking delay–see comment 8 below and this…

Update 4/19/2012: The situation is the same as it was 4/4.

Update 4/4/2012: Allison and my other friends at Destinations in Florida Travel have spoken to half a dozen or so Disney Dining staff, and have gotten consistently the following inconsistent message:  Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue will be closed for refurbishment October 1 to December 31, 2012, but that they are still allowed by the system to book dates in this window.

This combination suggests that either the systems are behind, the closure dates aren’t firm, or both!  But the autumn closure of Hoop-Dee-Doo seems real, just the details are still not set.

HOOP-DEE-DOO BEING CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT?

Crack commenter Colleen notes here that Disney World told her today that the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue will be closed for refurbishment from October to December 2012.

This has been rumored for a while…I’ll post more after additional confirmation and details…

FAVORITE EPCOT RESORT: DISNEY’S BOARDWALK INN

This site’s ranking of the deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World for first time visitors puts Disney’s Polynesian Resort first, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge second, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge third.

Among the Epcot resorts, all three come in last on the list of recommendations for first-timers, with Disney’s Beach Club Resort ranked best among them, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn ranked last, and the Yacht Club in between.

DISNEY WORLD DEAL FOR SUMMER 2012

Walt Disney World has announced a new promotion for stays from mid-June though mid-August 2012.  Book between now and and June 14, 2012.

Details are sketchy, and there may be actually two deals–one room only, and one packages, with different dates.

But based on this and this, here’s what it looks like:

• Selected Value Resorts and Moderate Resorts: arrival dates 6/15 through 8/4/2012, 15% off values, 20% off moderates.
• Selected Deluxe Resorts and Disney Vacation Club Resorts: arrival dates 7/15 through 8/14, 20% off of some, 25% off of others.

I’ll revise and update this page as more details emerge…or I understand them better!
