WHAT IS SEPTEMBER LIKE AT DISNEY WORLD?
September at Disney World combines lower crowds with low prices, and typically also has nice deals as well.
This makes it a great month for returning visitors.
But it has lousy weather, combining continuing summer heat and humidity with the peak of the hurricane season, making me not so keen on the month for first time visitors who may never return.
Note also that picking the right park to visit each day is critical at this time of the year. See this, and use the comment form below to ask me about your specific dates!
SEPTEMBER 2020 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
I forecast low crowds for the entire month. On a crowd scale of 1-11, the first week of September (the week beginning 8/29) has a crowd rating of 3/low, the week of 9/5 4/low-plus, the week of 9/12 1/lowest, and the week of 9/19 2/lower.

SEPTEMBER 2020 RESORT HOTEL PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
September resort hotel prices begin the month 10-15% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 10-20% higher at the moderates, and lowest of the year at the deluxes.
- At the values, they increase to 20-30% higher than the lowest of the year on September 13, and stay at this level the rest of the month
- At the moderates, they increase to 20-25% higher than the lowest of the year on September 13, and stay at this level the rest of the month
- At the deluxes, they bump up 9/4 for the Labor Day weekend (the values and moderates do not see this bump), go back to lowest of the year on 9/7, and on 9/18 increase to 15-25% higher than the lowest of the year, staying at this level the rest of the month

SEPTEMBER 2020 TICKET PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
September 2020 Disney World ticket prices are generally low, with some average prices for shorter ticket lengths that include the Labor Day weekend. The middle of the month sees some of the lowest ticket prices of the year. Late in the month prices start heading towards average levels.

SEPTEMBER 2020 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds.
The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available about six months in advance. Major hours updates–often with later closes or earlier opens–can happen the middle of the month before.
These calendars can be found by clicking this link.

Hi! Traveling September 22nd-29th and wondering about the possible crowd levels during that time! 🙂

Kat, there’s so much up in the air that I won’t make a prediction. Sorry to be so unhelpful.

Hi! We are traveling from September 2 – 6. What are you park recommendations for those days? We fly out super late on the 6th so depending on the crowds was going to make it a pool only day or maybe walk into Epcot (staying at Beach Club) for a quick ride!

Hi Brittany! First, the official calendar is not out for then–right now it’s only out through August 20. Your dates will be fully out by March 1.
I can give you some initial thoughts on what days to see what parks based on unofficial calendars–to be then revised if needed on 3/1. Let me know if you want the initial thoughts, or just ping me back in early March.
