Wednesday: Walt Disney World Summer Itinerary v2
WEDNESDAY AGENDA
This morning you will finish off the Animal Kingdom. You have the afternoon off, and head to Downtown Disney in the evening to see Cirque du Soleil’s spectacular show La Nouba.
If the Animal Kingdom has morning Extra Magic Hours Today, you need to be at your hotel bus stop by 6.50a; if it does not, 7:20a will do.
FIRST THINGS
Get up early and have breakfast in your room
Be at your hotels’ bus stop by 6.50 or 7:20 am, and catch the bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom
AT THE PARK: MORNING
- Be at the park by 7.30a if the park has Extra Magic Hours today, or at 8 otherwise
- At opening, head to Expedition Everest. Fastpass it, then ride it
- Go into Dinoland and ride (in order) Dinosaur, Triceratops Spin, and Primeval Whirl
- Use your fastpass to ride Expedition Everest again
- See any shows or rides that you missed on Monday or just haven’t seen yet. If you end up missing the train/Conservation Station, don’t worry.
- Have lunch at the Flame Tree Barbecue (counter credit) before 11 or after 1
- Head back to your hotel when you are ready—you are off until you need to be at your hotel’s bus stop by 5p
Note: Bring The Comprehensive Guide to Rides and Rides that Might be Skipped in case your day gets to be too intense!
YOUR EVENING
- Be at your hotel’s bus stop by 5p, and take the bus to Downtown Disney
- Ask the driver which stop to get off for Cirque du Soleil (special ticket, cash)
- Get a map, and find Cirque du Soleil. If it is 5:30 or later, enter and find your seats. If earlier, explore DTD a bit, being sure to be inside Cirque du Soleil by 5:30
- Exit Cirque du Soleil, ask a cast member for directions to The Rainforest Cafe (cash), find it, and either enter if it is near 8 or wander a bit if you are earlier than your reservation
- After dinner, spend as much time in DTD as you like, and when you are ready, use your map to find the closest bus stop and take the bus back to your hotel

Hi Dave, you really have a great site with a great amout of resources. Thank you for making all this info available!!! I have a huge problem. I just decided on my trip 2 days ago. I am going with a family of five. Two adults, and three kids ages 14, 5, and 5. I am the only one who has ever been to Disney before. It will be my twins birthday right before we come. I need help with the itinerary since I am planning less than 180 days before arrival. We arrive on 10/12/2011(Wed), and leave on 10/20/2011(Thurs). I booked dinner reservations today, so I was lucky to even get any of them. We are staying at the All Star Music Resort, and will arrive to the airport at 11am in Orlando on 10/12. We have reservations that night(10/12) for the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review at 9:30 pm. I was UNABLE to make reservations for Mickey’s Backyard BBQ(but hoping one will open up on Thurs), but WAS able to secure Cinderella’s Royal Table on 10/15 at 9:30 pm(We are hoping to catch the fireworks at 9pm from the front of the castle before we go in). I’d like to fit Akershus for breakfast one morning, but the website is down for making reservations this evening. The only other things I’d love to do is see the parade that I saw at the end of the night at Epcot in 2003(beautiful/tall puppets). It was amazing, but I do not remeber the name of it. I’d possibly like to do the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party if it’s not too expensive. I def want days at Epcot, Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom. I am not too sure about Hollywood Studios, but don’t know much about it. The Disney people are trying to talk me into the Dining package that is after the basic one bc I want to do three 2 credit meals, but I am lost on what to do, plus we are on a strict 6K budget. I was planning on soon purchasing the 8 day have it your way base pass, since I do not want to go to a park the day we arrive. On the 20th we will need to be at the airport no later than 6pm. Can you pleeease help me with an ininerary??? Thank you
Hi Lisa–juist confirming I got this, and I’ll have some thoughts for you by the end of the day…Dave
Great Dave!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!
Oh and Btw, I was able to make a reservation this am for Akershus. It will be Sun 10/16 at 8:30 am for breakfast bc I think this is the only day we would be able to do the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party during our stay.
Ok here’s a starting set of thoughts for you to react to
1. The Epcot parade is gone. There’s a great evening fireworks and such show at Epcot called Illuminations, which you should see the 19th, as that’s pm extra magic hours at Epcot, which means you don’t have to leave the park the second the show is over. See http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/10/12/review-illuminations-at-epcot/
2. In my view the single best evening fireworks show at WDW is Fantasmic at HS. On your dates it’s currently scheduled for only the 13th and 16th. If you do the BBQ–which I’m not keen on and don’t particualrly recommend–the 13th you’ll want to see Fantasmic the 16th. See http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/10/19/review-fantasmic-at-disneys-hollywood-studios/
3. I’m not that keen on the Halloween Party–see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2011/03/27/halloween-2011-at-walt-disney-world/ I don’t think it’s worth the money, and especially don’t think it’s worth missing Fantasmic for…
4. Re the two credit meals–it is often cheaper to pay cash for some of these rather than spend two credits. It is almost always cheaper to do so than to pay for the next level dining plan
Hello! Love your site. My family is taking a last minte trip staying @ FW cmpgrnd. We are a family of 5 w/3 boys 10, 7 & 3 and will be arriving wed. Aug 3rd (setting up camper site leaves this day off for anything) staying for 8 nights. We purchased 5 day park base tickets w/no dining plan. We’d like to eat @ castle & see the hoop dee doo show. Since our trip starts midweek, would you happen to have a suggested plan for us? Thanks so much!
Stacey I’ll get you some itinerary thoughts soon, but first book the meals ASAP as they can sell out 6 months ahead…then, if you are successful, le tme know what days and times you get them…
Dave, thank you for your time, and your great suggestions!!!! I appreciate it!!
Let me know your thoughts about the suggestions and I’ll give you advice on which parks which days
Hi Dave,
I was able to reserve the HDDR on Friday Aug 5th @ 7:15pm, Cinderella’s Castle on Sunday Aug 7th @ 9:20pm and the Coral Reef on Tues Aug 9th @ 4pm. Also, since there are 4 parks & we have a 5 day pass, do you think MK would be the best park to repeat for our boys (10, 7 & 3)? Thanks again!
Yay!
Stacey–unless your ticket is wierd, it’s very cheap to add days after you’ve purchased the first three days–and you can add that at WDW. it’s about $8/person/day to add days.
Your Cindy and Coral Reef reservations define two park days–MK the 7th and Epcot the 9th.
I’d do the Animal Kingdom on the 4th, take the 5th off, do the Magic Kingdom the morning and evening of the 6th–seeing the evening parade and fireworks, as Cindy will get in the way of those the 7th. If you don’t buy another day, take the 8th off, Epcot the 9th, and the Hollywood Studios the 10th.
