Photo Tour of a Cars Family Suite at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

THE CARS FAMILY SUITES AT DISNEY’S ART OF ANIMATION RESORT

(Note: this photo-tour of a Cars Family Suite at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is a supplement to the full photo tour of a Finding Nemo Family Suites that’s here. At that link you’ll find a floor plan, and also much more detail on such items as bed dimensions, actual storage space, etc.)

The three types of Family Suites at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort–Cars, viewed here, Finding Nemo, and Lion King–have almost identical floor plans, varying only here and there in minor furnishings.

A refurb currently in process is shifting the floors to wood laminate, and the queen bed in the separate bedroom to a platform bed–which adds storage underneath. I’ll have updated images later in 2020.

You enter the Cars Family Suites from the dining room, with the dining room table and access to the master bedroom on one side…

…and access to the second bath, mini-kitchen and living room on the other.

The dining table improbably folds down into a bed. Note the darling sleepy Mater on the headboard–a larger image is at the top of the page.

Beyond the dining area, through a door, you’ll find the master bedroom with a queen bed on one side. The master bedroom in Cars is the most lightly themed of those in the Art of Animation Family Suites.

Here’s the other side of the master bedroom.

Accessible from the master bedroom is the master bath, with fun car-wash theming around the sink (well, I think it’s fun)…

…and a simple large shower.

The second bath is accessible from the open part of the Family Suite, and is divided into a sink area–also car-wash themed…

One side of the living room has the couch and mini-kitchen.

Here’s another view of the couch–note the auto-themed upholstery…

…and here’s the couch folded out into a bed.

The biggest difference between the Cars Family Suites and the other two types at Art of Animation is the coffee table. This actually matters…

Couch Side Living Room Lion King Family Suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort from yourfirstvisit.net

In the Finding Nemo and Lion King Family Suites (Lion King is shown above), you won’t find a single coffee table, but rather two small round ones that also can serve as stools, so that the room can seat six.  The stools can also be dragged over to the dining room table so that it can hold around it 6 as well.

In Cars, instead you’ll find this amoeba-shaped single table with a map of Radiator Springs.

You can still seat six in the living room, if you grab two chairs from the dining room and pull them in. Moreover, this table appeared sturdy enough to serve as a bench at the dining room table…but not quite so flexibly as the little stools in the other suites.  But if you break it you buy it!

Also on this side of the main living space you’ll find the mini-kitchen.  Note the garage/shop theming…

…which is also picked up on the opposite TV-side wall, where you’ll find the second hanging rod in the suite, TV and dresser storage, and a chair.

Wall Art Cars Family Suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort from yourfirstvisit.net

I really like the wall art in these rooms…

Personally, my favorite decor among the Family Suite options at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is that of this Cars room. But that doesn’t really matter. If your kids love all of these movies, they will love all of these rooms!

Great photo tour, Dave! I know Ian would LOVE to stay in one of these suites, but I’m just too cheap to justify the cost difference between these suites and POR. Of course, it would be splendid to have the 2nd bathroom!

Heidi I get you…if you don’t need sleeping space for six, these are definitely pricey!!

Was this even remotely helpful? Then mosey on over to the home page, and like it on Facebook or pin it on Pinterest!

Loving the photo tours! Someday we hope to be able to justify staying there. (Dang DVC membership) I didn’t realize how big the table bed was. Lots of sleeping room!

So did it have a fridge? We got a letter saying we may not have one!

5 Dave { 08.29.13 at 6:56 am }

Hi Brelynn–yes, there’s a mini-fridge and it was fine!

How comfortable were the pull out couch bed and pull down bed?

7 Dave { 06.02.14 at 7:03 am }

Amber, I thought they were both fine. The pull down bed is more comfortable than the fold out couch.

8 Lindsey { 12.28.14 at 3:04 pm }

Does the fridge have enough space for a gallon or two of milk?

9 Dave { 12.30.14 at 9:38 am }

Yes, Lindsey although half-gallon sizes will fit better.

10 Donna { 10.23.15 at 12:18 pm }

Are any pools at the cars resort heated in November?

11 Dave { 10.24.15 at 7:37 am }

Donna, they are heated year round.

12 Deb { 04.13.16 at 11:00 am }

Thank you so much for this detailed information. I could not find a review that gave detailed info on the rooms withing the resort. With a family of four plus being a foster parent I normally get double rooms in order to have the space and amenities of upgraded hotels but this inconveniences the adults that can never really get a break. This review leaned me towards this resort. The themes make the experience and will definitely have the kids not complaining to go back to the resort and lounge. There is room to dine in on those nights I’m spent and we can keep everyone together no back and forth for late night chatter!!! Thank you I’m a Disney geek i am glad someone takes it as seriously as me!

13 Dave { 04.14.16 at 8:57 am }

Thanks, Deb!!

14 Hope { 01.15.17 at 10:53 am }

Hi! How far were the cars suites from pools?is it noisy there?

Thank you

15 Dave { 01.16.17 at 9:48 am }

Hope, Kelly is right. Moreover the pool right by cars is quite small, and less noisy than the other two pools at Art of Animation. To reduce noise even more, request a lake view room.

Hope-
The Cozy Cone Pool is just steps away from the entrance to each of the Cars Family Suite buildings. And The Big Blue Pool (the big main pool) is less than a 5 minute walk (even with distracted children. LOL). The noise level depends on the time of day. Art of Animation is a resort dedicated to families, so there will be noise. I found the Cozy Cone pool to be less crowded and more quiet.

I Love this, Great pictures. The Cars Suite was an upgrade from our All Star Music room, complimentary due to a large group wanting to take the All Star Resorts. For our future trip. Do you know how late typically the pools are open there? We will be there the first week of May. My son will be so excited to be staying here 🙂

18 Kelly B - Agent with Destinations in Florida { 01.28.17 at 8:44 pm }

HI Jennifer-

What a great upgrade. Gotta love that Pixie Dust. There are 3 pools at AoA. The Big Blue pool will almost always have a lifeguard present. As for as the hours, they vary depending on the crowds. They are usually open at least from 9am-9pm (But have opened as early as 8 and closed as late as 12 midnight).

19 Dave { 01.29.17 at 8:05 pm }

As a cost saving measure, the pools have been opening later and closing earlier. 10a-10p is not uncommon.

20 Megan { 05.11.17 at 2:11 pm }

Do you suggest any particular rooms in the Finding Nemo buildings? Looking for a similar suggestion that you made about the Lion King building.

21 Dave { 05.12.17 at 10:08 am }

Megan, the first floor can be noisy, as can be the pool-facing rooms. I’d aim for a lake view upper floor room.

22 Mary Manning { 06.22.17 at 10:18 pm }

Hi, How many floors are in the art of animation resort?

23 Dave { 06.23.17 at 10:05 am }

Mary, each building has 4 floors.

24 Faye Kern { 11.18.17 at 5:46 am }

We will be arriving there on the 25th staying for the week. We are staying in the CarsFamily suite, was wondering if all the suites have a coffee pot and do all suites have the kitchenettes ?

25 Dave { 11.18.17 at 11:20 am }

Hi Faye!! All the Art of Animation suites have the kitchenettes and coffee pots!

26 Andrea { 12.20.17 at 11:18 am }

Cars suite coffee pots: full-sized or typical “hotel” 2 cup pots? Drip, not K-cups, right?l

27 Dave { 12.22.17 at 2:30 pm }

Andrea, they are side-by-side one cup drip pots. So you can make two cups at once, separately.

28 Eva { 12.30.17 at 1:37 am }

Hello!!!!
I want to go on October wich cars building would you recomend?

29 Dave { 12.30.17 at 10:04 am }

Eva, there are three Cars buildings. I recommend lake views, and two of these, buildings 2 and 3, have lake views. The one of these closest to the main pool, central services, and bus stops is building 3, so that’s the one I recommend!!

30 Kayla { 03.20.18 at 4:14 pm }

I’m going in 10 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????

31 Dave { 03.21.18 at 9:04 am }

Great, Kayla. Have fun!

32 Kayla { 03.26.18 at 3:10 pm }

I will

33 Anonymous { 02.15.19 at 11:16 am }

We rented the cars handicap suite. It is on the first floor? And can you tell me if it’s near the restaurT and a pool

34 Dave { 02.16.19 at 9:43 am }

Hi, the Cars family suites accessible rooms are on all floors of building #2. This is the most distant of the Cars building from the dining area. There is a small pool right outside. For a map of the resort, see this.
