Thank you so much for the website. Very helpful. I am trying to plan a trip to WDW in October of 2011. When should I book to get the best discounts. I see the promotions they have at this time only go through 10/1/2011. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hey Brandon! While you can’t predict too firmly from the past, because circumstances change, Disney has had deals in each of the past three Octobers. These have been announced in September/August.

My family wants to book a trip for early June, 2012. When will the next discount be out for when we want to come?

4 Dave { 11.29.11 at 1:44 pm }

Hi Michele!

There’s no guarantee Disney will do a discount for June, or, if it does, when it will be announced.

For last June, it offered two discounts for June. One was for free tickets for kids, and was announced in early January. The other discount it offered was 25-35% off of deluxe rooms, and it announced this deal in early May. Disney has told Wall Street that it’s strategy is to continue to reduce discounting, so if I had to bet, it will be similar or even less to what it offered for June 2011.

Do they offer a free dinning for the month of May. We are just starting to do some planning for May 2013 and wondered if they ever offer this during the month of March?

6 Dave { 04.08.12 at 12:59 pm }

Hi Sarah–assuming you mean May 2013. Free dining has been offered in May now and then, but there’s no guarantees, especially since Disney is cutting back on the number of discounts it offers…

Planning a trip to WDW the wk of Nov. 3-10, 2012! Any idea on specials coming up?

8 Dave { 05.13.12 at 8:33 am }

Hi Lisa! That is “Jersey Week” (see http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/05/02/jersey-week-at-walt-disney-world/ ). Disney has not offered specials during Jersey week the past few years…

Great Site, although we have visited in the past i am still finding helpful information.
looking at going to WDW on Nov. 24th for 7 days, any idea if discounts will be available and when they might come out?

10 Dave { 06.16.12 at 2:21 pm }

Thanks John! That’s a period that has been discounted for thew past few years, although there’s no guarantee. Last year, discounts for then started coming out in August.

11 David A. { 06.20.12 at 9:39 am }

We are planning a trip to WDW in November if some kind of a discount special comes along
for the late fall of 2012. Do you know of any type of discount for November 2012? We plan to come the week before Thanksgiving. Thank you!

12 Dave { 06.20.12 at 9:51 am }

Hi David–nothing is out yet. Last year, they started announcing discounts for November in early August. Id one comes out, you’ll be able to find it from the links here: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/03/03/summary-of-current-walt-disney-world-deals-and-discounts/

13 Michelle { 07.10.12 at 4:09 pm }

Hi Dave,
Just wanted to know if Disney offers any discounts in the begining of the year? Im planning a trip for January 2013. Also how is the weather around that time?

14 Dave { 07.11.12 at 7:24 am }

Hi Michelle!

January discounts are common, but in 2013 I’d expect to see them applying mostly to arrival dates after MLK day.

Weather in January is all over the place–85 one day, 32 a few days later. See this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-family-trip/when-to-go/next-best-dates/weather-and-when-to-go/

Hi Dave,
We are planning our 3rd WDW family trip in February 2013 (arrival on the 9th) for the week before Presidents day. Is this typically a good week to visit (crowds)? Also, wondering if historically there are some discounts we could possibly see? We’re planning to stay in a deluxe resort w/dining plan.
Thanks for all the info. I enjoy researching our trips & this is the first time I’ve used your site.
It’s been very informative!

Hi we are a family of 6 (2grand parents 2 parents 2 boys aged 9&7) from Australia joining my sister and hubby plus 3 kids aged 12/9/4 from australia now living in Texas in Florida from 22december till 6 January. Have not been to any parks plus have autistic 9yr old in group any suggestions for what to see and itinerary very appreciative we don’t know where to start!! Thanks

17 Dave { 07.14.12 at 7:17 am }

Hi Stacy, it’s a great week up until Thursday or so when the President’s day crowds start rolling in. Disney often offers discounts around then, but sometimes not for Saturday arrival dates. See this for what was offered in Feb 2012 (you have to subtract two days because of the different President’s Day date): http://yourfirstvisit.net/2011/08/03/new-free-disney-world-dining-deal-through-march-2012/

18 Dave { 07.14.12 at 7:22 am }

Oh Carolyn… frankly, my advice is to reschedule. Those are the two busiest (and most expensive) weeks of the year, and there’s no itinerary that can fix that. Some autistic kids have difficulty even with moderate crowds… if you just can’t reschedule, buy and read this book: PassPorter’s Open Mouse for Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line: Easy Access Vacations for Travelers with Extra Challenges You’ll need to stay at a WDW hotel to take advantage of morning extra magic hours, and focus your park visits around the mornings and evenings…

I’m looking to book a trip in January 2013 (14th-25th). I’m hesitating on booking now because I’m waiting for hopefully a good deal. Any idea on when they’ll be released? I know the free meal plan deal is expiring today (September 29th). Is that any indicator that one may come out for 2013 soon? Last year it was out in August.. I’m getting a little nervous.

20 Dave { 09.30.12 at 5:52 pm }

Hey Ashley,it looks like instead of a new deal they’ve just extended the “book by” date for the old room rate deal for Nov and Jan–see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/09/27/one-half-disney-world-deals-expiring-soon/ So it may be a while before the Jan deals–if any–come out…

21 Debbie { 01.03.13 at 7:34 am }

planning a trip to Walt Disney World August 22 to Sept 1 are there normally any kind of discounts then?

22 Dave { 01.03.13 at 3:11 pm }

Hi Dave, planning a trip for October 2013. Is is better for me to wait until mid July or so to book hoping they offer the free dining plan? And do you recommend waiting that long?
Thanks Dina

24 Dave { 01.08.13 at 6:17 pm }

Heya Dina see my answer to a very similar question asked just before yours here: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/12/28/disney-world-discount-much-february-june-2013-coming-out-next-week/#comment-115733

Planning on taking grandson first week of June. How do I know what’s a deal and what isn’t? Seems like there’s a blitz in the media encouraging visits to WDW currently.

26 Dave { 01.16.13 at 3:03 pm }

Hi Debbie! For general hints on budgets and paying less (and more), see this page: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2009/12/16/planning-your-walt-disney-world-budget/ For the only current Disney deals for those dates, see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2013/01/03/new-walt-disney-world-discount-mid-february-through-mid-june-2013/

Then come back to me with any questions they raise!

any hope of discount for oct 18-27 – free dining or room discount
Thanks

Hi Debbie, Disney is cutting back on discounts, but I think there’s a solid chance for a room deal!

My husband & I hope to bring our 2 daughters back to WDW in Jan 2014 for a week with their husbands & 2 sons 2 1/2 & 5. Things are a little different this time, I have MS thus no summer trips & concerened about location. Also, this is our gift and we need to make it as reasonable as possible. ANY advise would be greatly appreciated. Nana & Papa

30 Dave { 04.17.13 at 7:15 am }

Hi Bea, there’s no hotels with great convenience that are also “reasonable”. Your best bet will likely be some combination of family suites and standard rooms, all in “preferred” buildings–which will make the walks shorter–at All-Star Music. If you don’t already have one, you’ll also want to look into renting a scooter for the duration.

There’s more on the Music Family Suites here: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/09/05/review-the-family-suites-disneys-all-star-music-resort/ and on the standard rooms here: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/07/27/review-disneys-all-star-music-resort/

(Among the family suites, I’m recommitting Music rather than Art of Animation because you can find both standard rooms and family suite in preferred buildings at Music, whereas at AofA the preferred buildings have only family suites.)

I heard you can book your stay and if a discount comes up later, you can get the discounted price. How does that work? We are looking to go in October, and are hopeful a free dining plan or resort discount pops up. Thoughts?

32 melony { 04.22.13 at 12:52 pm }

Also, I got what I think is a pretty great price from Twilight Travel. Pros and cons of using a travel agent?

33 Dave { 04.22.13 at 12:57 pm }

Melony, if a deal comes out and your hotel and dates are eligible, you can call Disney and book or re-book into it!

Dave,
Looking for odds of a dining / room discount the last week in January of ’14 (1/24 – 1/31). Seems this may be the most reasonable time period for us and the little ones, though I’m slightly concerned because I saw that there may be ride closures during this period.

36 Dave { 05.05.13 at 8:00 am }

Hi Kevin, I’d say the odds of a room discount are good, of a dining deal quite low. And yes, a small number of ride closures are typical at that time of year–see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/05/12/winter-ride-closures-at-walt-disney-world/

Hi Dave, coming from Australia to WDWfirst 2 weeks Dec 2013. Struggling with family of 5 (2Ad 3K 6,11,14) in 1 room. Looking at offsite accom for reasonable rates (Buenas Vista Suites) but worried about assessability/frequency of buses., Is it worth spending the extra on WDW accom and have quicker more frequent transport access?Don’t think can afford car! A

38 Dave { 05.19.13 at 6:49 am }

Hi Amanda! It is hard to fit a family of 5 into a WDW hotel at a reasonable price. Your best bet is an Alligator Bayou room at Riverside–see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/11/19/review-port-orleans-riverside-alligator-bayou-rooms/

As you note, transport is often an issue with the offsite hotels. Not only can it be infrequent, but also it often doesn’t start early enough for you to be at the turnstiles before the park opens–the key to a lower-wait day…

Dave, I have 3 rooms booked at the Poly for week of Dec. 8, 2013. Do you see any chance of getting a dinning or h0tel discount for that week? It sure would be nice. Thank you for your time.

40 Dave { 07.18.13 at 8:03 am }

Bea, a room rate discount is possible. I very much doubt free dining…

41 Amy { 09.10.13 at 1:44 pm }

We have a room booked for the week of March 9th. Do you ever see specials run in March?

42 Dave { 09.11.13 at 6:41 am }

Hi Amy–March discounts are common, but often have blocked dates, with the timing of Easter, and of Easter-related spring breaks, being the issue. There is a pin code offer out that includes March, but excludes your dates–so my guess is that your dates won’t be in any deals coming out. See this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2013/07/17/disney-world-room-rate-deal-for-2014/ Sorry baout that…

Hello Dave, we are from The Netherlands and we are going to Disney World from 26 april 2014 to 10 may 2014 is there any chance of getting any sort of discount? ore can we stop hoping and just book a hotel.
Yhank you for your trouble

44 Dave { 10.06.13 at 9:25 am }

Jos, I do think there will be a discount for then, and whether or not you book now won’t matter, as you’d still have to be eligible for and re-book into the discount…
