OPENING DATE SET FOR DISNEY WORLD’S FANTASYLAND EXPANSION

The Disney Parks Blog announced here that the Grand Opening of the next stage of New Fantasyland will be on Thursday December 6, 2012. (I’d thought it would open by 12/8–see this.)

Previews will begin on November 19.

The Grand Opening on December 6 will include Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Ariel’s Grotto, Gaston’s Tavern and Bonjour! Village Gifts.

During “previews” Under the Sea may not be operating all the time, and may start after the park opens or close suddenly.  But since it’s a dupe of a fairly simply ride system that’s been in operation for a while in California, previews should be pretty clean.

I’ve recently published the final revision of the weeks of 2013 ranked in order of how good they are for a family on their first visit to Walt Disney World who may never return.

Basically, I chunk up the weeks of the year based on certain criteria, and then sort within each chunk based first on crowds, and then, within the same crowd level, prices.

V2 OF 2013 WEEKS TO VISIT WALT DISNEY WORLD RANKED IN ORDER IS OUT

The updated Disney World 2013 week ranking is now out, and (barring typos and logical lacunae) should now be stable through 2013.

The update incorporates final Disney World 2013 price seasons and crowd forecasts.

Only 3 weeks changed their ranking by more than a couple of places from the draft version, and only two more than 5 places. [Read more →]

DISNEY WORLD FREE DINING DATES  EXTENDED

Disney World has added another week to the eligible December arrival dates for its free dining offer.
