April 2020 at Walt Disney World

By Dave Shute

April   May   June    July   August   September   October

Walt Disney World is closed until further notice. I can’t imagine it re-opening in April…

WHAT IS APRIL LIKE AT DISNEY WORLD?

Late April is usually a fine time to go to Disney World, but the earlier parts of the month commonly see high prices and high crowds, depending on the timing of Easter (and its effects on spring breaks).

April 2020 sees prices and crowds are typically rough until the Sunday after Easter.

APRIL 2020 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

April crowds vary depending on the timing of Easter and later-March spring breaks. in 2020, April crowds begin at moderate levels and then skyrocket the weeks before and after Easter,  following the patterns of 2020 spring breaks. They are moderate beginning the Sunday after Easter, and by late in the month, crowds are fine and will remain so into May.

On a crowd scale of 1-11, the week beginning 3/28 has a ranking of 7/moderate-plus, 4/4 11/highest, 4/11 10/higher, 4/18 5/moderate-minus, and 4/25 4/low+.

See this for more on 2020 crowds at Disney World.

APRIL 2020 RESORT HOTEL PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Disney World hotel prices begin April at moderate levels, skyrocket the weeks before and after Easter, then drop back to moderate levels for the final third of the month.

  • Resort hotel prices begin the month 35-50% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 25-30% higher at the moderates, and 30-45% higher at the deluxes
  • On April 5, prices go up to 60-70% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 45-50% higher at the moderates, and 50-65% higher at the deluxes (prices are a little lower 4/11-4/14)
  • On April 19, prices drop to 25-30% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 30% higher at the moderates, and 20-25% higher at the deluxes. Prices stay at this level into late May

APRIL 2020 WEATHER AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

April weather completes the shift from the variable and cooler temperatures of winter to the warmer and more consistent temperatures of spring.

For example, at the beginning of April, 60% of the time the daily high will be between 72 and 87.  By the beginning of May, 60% of the time the daily high will be between 80 and 90.

All in, April weather is as good as it gets at Walt Disney World.

DISNEY WORLD SPECIAL EVENTS IN APRIL 2020

The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival will continue through the month.

APRIL 2020 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds. Opening hours may change to 8a. This will be especially true the weeks before and after Easter.

The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available about six months in advance. Major hours updates–often with later closes–can happen a month before.

These calendars can be found by clicking this link.

Hi can you tell me anything about the cheer summit at the end of April and crowds? We have a trip from 4/28 to 5/4 . Hoping it’s not a big factor but heard it can get crowded
Thanks so much!

Kim, the cheer events happen all the time. Though you’ll find many people complaining about them, frankly there’s not enough people involved to change crowd patterns in a set of parks that average 150,000 people in them a day…
