Cinderella’s Royal Table Closed for Refurb in Early 2015
By Dave Shute
One of my best sources let me know this morning that Cinderella’s Royal Table will be closed for rehab from January 5 through March 6, 2015.
The best alternative, if you are going to Epcot, is Akershus, with buckets of princesses–but usually not Cinderella (and thanks, KE, for reminding me to note this). Next best, or the best option if Epcot is not in your plans, is dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian with Cinderella and her family.
Another option–and thanks, Jacob!!–is the princess breakfast and brunch at Citricos at the Grand Floridian, added temporarily while Cinderella’s Royal Table is down.
I’ll post more as I learn more!

Noooo I am going on my Honeymoon then and we arrive on Jan 6th!!!
Sorry, Caitlin!!
No!!!! My daughter’s first trip and birthday! How disappointing!
Oh I’m so pleased we are going in October. So many little princesses will be heartbroken
Dave,
Don’t forget to remind those who are disappointed that Akershus in EPCOT is a great option to meet princesses, have a “fancy” castle-like atmosphere, and enjoy a decent meal. We have never done CRT, but we did Akershus and loved it! I think so many overlook that option and disappointed princesses will be just as enchanted by Akershus.
KE–great point, added!!
is it set in stone that they will be finished and reopened by March 7th? bc we arrive on March 7th and I have a little girl that will be devastated if we aren’t able to dine with Cinderella, yes I know we have the epcot option but a 4 year old won’t be that interested in epcot 🙁
Krystal, nothing is set in stone. It’s more common for such refurbs to end early than to go late, but there is no guarantee.
I know this has been mentioned but I also would like to say how great Akershus is. No, you aren’t in the castle, but it’s only 1 dining point instead of 2, the food is better (IMO) AND you still meet the princesses. When we went on our trip, Cinderella was there at Akershus. Maybe, since the castle will be closed, Disney will try to make up for it by having her there at Akershus consistently during the refurbishment.
Completely agree Amy!!!
Been calling every day to try to get reservation for March 16th. They say that no inventory has been released for any of those dates in case the refurbishment runs over. They say to call back every day which seems sort of pointless since they will know know until next Jan. or Feb. whether the refurb. is running over. The Boutique took reservations in March which also seems strange since it is in the same building as the Royal Table. I’m devastated as I have a granddaughter princess for whom this entire trip was planned for her birthday lunch at the castle. Please post with any news.
I will Diane, whatever I learn.
I just booked a reservation on March 16th. They told me this morning at 6:00 a.m. that there was no inventory but then some dinner things showed up on line both for the 16th and 17th. Who knows what is going on. !!
Cool!
Any way to find out what’s up with Cinderella’s Royal Table? I think they are only releasing a few dinner spots. Nothing for breakfast, lunch. No way 180+10 I can’t get a 3:00 CRT for 2, 4, 6, 8. or an 8, 11, 1 or 5. Most I can get is a 6:30 – 7:30 spot. That’s it. Something’s going on.
Yup…
Hi Dave, not sure where to ask this…we were lucky enough to get ADR at Cindy. I saw that they have special chocolate slipper and crown desserts that you have to preorder. The question is, if we order these, would we still be getting the desserts that came with our meal? I like the chocolate slippers a lot, but I don’t want to make the mistake of preordering a bunch of those and then having double desserts that we couldn’t finish. Also, they ask you what words you want printed on your plate (for the dessert). Is this a plate you get to keep, or it is “printed” in chocolate or something? I know I should call the restaurant but I thought your intel might be better. I may call them after seeing what you have to say. Thanks!
Jane I’m not 100% certain so call and let me know what you find out, but here’s what I think: a. you still get the other desserts, if you wish, since you pay extra for this, and b. the message is drawn in icing on the plate, so there’s nothing you get to keep!
Hi Dave, you are right on both counts. We decided to order some of the special desserts anyway and just have extra desserts b/c we are so excited to celebrate being at Cindy. 🙂 They also let you personalize the plate with up to 4 words. So I was able to put all of our names on the plates, which the kids will love.
🙂 Jane!!
Maybe worth mentioning that while Cinderella’s castle is closed they are doing a Cinderella/Princess Brunch at Citrico’s (Grand Floridian).
Oh great point Jacob–I have that in my book The easy Guide but forgot to update the site…
It is expected to be different when it reopens? (I get the impression it did b/c the website didn’t list it as closed.) Will they change the dining room part, or probably just make the bathroom more updated? I’m wondering if it’s worth going back to see the changes.
Jane, I wish I knew, but I don’t!!
Re: above, I did notice that they didn’t change any of the photos on the website, so I’m suspecting it didn’t change much.
I agree Jane!
Hi Dave, I was just asked if we’d still do photos with Cinderella at the start of CRT. I knew they weren’t giving out prints anymore, but thought they would still take the photos. But I just looked on the website and it doesn’t say anything about getting your photo taken. Same for Akershus. Do you know if they still do the photo op at the beginning? Or have they replaced that with photo pass photographers taking pics of you throughout your dining?
Jane, aT the beginning of CRT and Akershus you can get a Photopass shot, or hand your camera to them for a shot. No more “they take a photo and hand you a print.”
Hi Dave, not sure where to ask this. I keep seeing articles saying they are doing a major reconstruction of things around Cinderella castle. Is this going to mean that the Cindy castle will be unsightly and hard to walk around when we are there Thanksgiving week? The articles say things might be done by the end of the year. I’m not going to change plans b/c of this, but want to know what to expect, as I have most of our MK morning around that area. Thanks!
Jane, construction has been going on around the Castle for about 4 years now, and most people have found it still lovely!
