Coming Attractions

By Dave Shute

Lilo and meJust got back from a week-long visit to Walt Disney World, and coming out of that here’s what’ll be showing up soon on the site:

  • Revised reviews of the Polynesian, Pop Century, and All-Star Music resorts
  • All-new reviews of Victoria and Albert’s, Jiko, the Lilo and Stitch Best Friends character breakfast at ‘Ohana, and the Biergarten
  • Revised Epcot itineraries–the days and dining will remain the same, but what attractions to do when, and what’s optional, will change. As part of the “optional” issue, I’ll be publishing many more reviews of Epcot rides to help families decide for themselves what to see and what to skip
  • And the post I know you are all looking forward to: some whining about how hard it is to build itineraries for Epcot unless they are for two full days!

So look out for all this to come out in later May and June!

Haven’t seen your EPCOT itinerary “whining” but we found the same thing. It just takes two days to see “everything”, at least the everything we wanted to see. And we didn’t have it, so will go back again and do what we didn’t see. Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios were OK but not at the very top of the list so we spent 3 hours each there. Still have things to see, though, at AK. Esp now with the new Minnie and Mickey meet.

Hi Judy and thanks for the feedback…won’t get to the whining for a bit. The problem with Epcot is that there’s so many things that people either love or are bored by…

Hi Dave

Yeah, how was biergarten by the way, because I am on a debate on Biergarten vs Tutto right now. And also I want to know, did you look at the post I made on the AK day in the autumn winter spring itinerary? How was disney for you?

Hi Danny, yup I saw the AK (and MK!) ideas, am still focused on Epcot for the moment. Biergarten was as always–it really repays an interest in german cuisine and german folk music. Very little kids will like the music and action. For everyone else, it’s a matter of personal taste…

What a great resource! Thank you. Could you answer a few questions? Going April 2014. 1) Art of Animation or All star movies? Which one has more food options and quicker bus travel times to the parks? We have 3 kids (6yr boy, 2yr girl and 1yr girl). Crystal palace or Cinderella royal table? Do I have to wait exactly 180 days to put my character meal reservations in? So for 2 “C” meals on different days, do I need to call in reservations twice? Thank you a hundred times.

Hi Brad, I advise AofA over Movies–see this: https://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/08/04/the-value-resorts-at-walt-disney-world/

And for kids as young as yours–especially the girls–I’d pick Crystal Palace, and save Cindy for when they are older…On you last questions, you can make reservations beginning 180 days out, and if you have a WDW hotel reservation, can make them at 180 days from your arrival date for the next ten days–so you don’t have to keep calling back–tho the system has reportedly been pretty inconsistent on this last point lately…
