The easy Guide Has its 75th Review

By Dave Shute

Sometime this morning our The easy Guide to Your First Walt Disney World Visit got its 75th review on Amazon.

This strikes me as a bit of a watershed—a drizzle-shed?—because after all, the Iliad, which has been out a couple of thousand years longer—though not quite that long on Amazon—has in its most-reviewed edition only 520 or so reviews.

The easy Guide has its 75th review

Of our 75 reviews, 73 have five stars. That’s 97% for those of you keeping score.

Homer not doing quite so well as The easy Guide

Homer, in contrast, is getting only 66% five stars. Must be enraging…

I can’t tell you how grateful I am (and likely Josh will be, once he gets out of bed) that so many of you have written such kind words about a book that we really put our hearts and souls into!

I have some clear favorites among the reviews you’ve done, but so as to not pick and choose, here’s excerpts from the last ten reviews posted:

  • Jilly: “This is an awesome book with tons of information to help not only the first time visitor but the veteran park goer.”
  • Paula: “The one and only book you need to plan your Disney World magical vacation!”
  • Eric: “I have read a number of WDW Guide books and this may be the best – especially for a first timer.”
  • Leann: “Great information even for those of us who have been there multiple times.”
  • Jeffrey: “I have read all the guidebooks and this one is the perfect mix of information, traveling tips and reviews. It is a practical and honest guide to a Disney World trip. Nice work Josh and Dave!”
  • Holli: “Great guide for those traveling to Walt Disney World.”
  • Michelle B: “Great guide to Walt Disney World.”
  • C.R.: “We saw every attraction we wanted and were able to get reservations at every eatery on our list–but that, my first-time friends, requires you get (and act on) sound advice well before you land in Orlando. That’s what this book delivers. Read it.”
  • Janet: “Great resource.”
  • Chloe: “Great guide book. Full of very useful Disney planning advice. Worth every penny.”

But my favorite review still comes from Celebrity SpokesBaby Liam:

Looks like a great book.
Two questions:
1) Can you still get kindle version for free with purchase of hard copy?
2) When does 2015 hard copy version come out?

Hey Mike! On 1, yes; on 2, we dunno!

I am back! Thinking of spring break to see Harry Potter World and WDW. The rates are quite high for that time, do you think there will be any “deals” during the end of March and April? We know the crowds will be terrible, but I just cannot miss school! Wish I could convince myself to do it, but I do not seem able.

Hope you are well,

Wendy

Hi Wendy and welcome back!! Deals are likely in early March and in April beginning late in the week of the 4th.

But look–if it helps–my parents took me out of school all the time, and yet the University of Chicago still nominated me to pursue a Rhodes Scholarship. Now maybe I woulda won one if they hadn’t taken me out so often, instead of falling by the wayside early in the selection process…but still!!

You make me laugh – I do NOT worry about my own kids missing school at all, but I am a teacher. I worry about my students. Hard to send message that school is important if I am skipping off to Orlando – I have an over-inflated sense of my own importance!

Thanks for the info…the airfare is so high for spring break, I doubt it will happen…

Oh Wendy I forgot you were a teacher!!!

I am always impressed (and pleased) that you remember me at all! Think of the number of posts you deal with daily!

Wendy you are very memorable! I’ll never forget what you said about my mom…

Did our 1st visit right in Dec 2010 at WL; 7 days; dining plan-wonderful trip w/ 5 & <3yo kids. Yearning for return to WDW w/ 9 & 7yo but tighter budget. Heard March 1-6, 2015 may have % discount but unlikely free dining offer. Undecided b/t AofA vs renting DVC points w/ added dining. Advice? Suggestions? What am I not thinking of re: $ saving ideas while maintaining low crowd, good weather, good value for $? Help please! thx, Leah

Leah have you considered September? It fits all your criteria except weather–hot with a chance of hurricanes. Very low crowds, very low prices, free dining is common.

Eek-it IS Sept! Can’t get time off work that fast. Considered Nov 6th or so… post hurricane season, husband would prefer warmer weather as our Dec 2010 trip dipped into the 40’s! Think we’d enjoy AofA after a WL stay? Would you aim for a moderate resort if could pull it off or better theming for 7 & 9 yo at AofA? Love this planning site, many thanks!

12 Dave { 09.14.14 at 6:43 am }

I meant Sept 2015, Leah!! I think you’ll have more fun at AofA than a moderate…

Ah, that makes more sense, tho we’d hoped to go before our 9yo turns 10 in May and thus becomes a WDW adult! Thanks tho : ). I think we’re leaning toward AofA 1st week of March 2015 to catch the start of the Garden Festival-my husband’s big into gardening. We need a pick-me-up as he got laid off at the end of Aug and planning a WDW trip seems just the ticket!

Oh Leah, good luck!!

Hi Dave,
I understand that parts of the Frozen Summer Fun will be now continued past Sept 28 which you predicted. Do you know what parts will not be continuing? I seemed to only read that the Frozen fun land and the sing along will continue – does this mean that the parade won’t be on anymore?

16 Dave { 09.17.14 at 8:20 am }

Kimberly–that’s what I think, no parade, no fireworks.
