“Although Disney does not make a big deal out of this, the website is meant for planning, and the app for in-Orlando checks and changes. It is generally easier and faster to do your planning via the website”.

Thank goodness I found your article and those words. I thought I was going crazy. I was looking via the app and could not find a screen with my daily plans (detailed with park times, dining reservation, etc) that I had seen yesterday. After reading your article, I signed on via website and found the more detailed screen I was looking for. Thanks!

    Hi Dave,
Long time (last year) since my last question. Sooo, Not sure if this is the right area for this question. Magic band upgrades through “My Disney Experience” for 10.00. relatively new. So it gives a few options and i guess most are sold out. I picked Flynn Ryder for my daughter and the one i wanted is not available. So picked hers and should be here Monday. Ok well i keep going back on to see if my choice is available and it doesn’t even give me the option to upgrade or even change the colors now for the rest of the group. What the heck happened? We wont be there until September 14th so i cant imagine they would be sending all of ours with the upgrade.

Lisa, I’m sorry, but I don’t track this issue (of upgrading MagicBands) closely enough to be helpful. But I agree with you, it is odd…

Update: it was 6 AM–not 7 like the one cast member told me (another one told me later that it was 6), nor the 5:45 am that their website says. It was 6 exactly, just like in 2015. And, I had no trouble making split ADRs from one account, I just made sure to make the one listing the non account holding adult first, then I had no problem making the 2nd one listing the account holder first. I had read on other blogs that people had had success that way. I wasn’t worried enough to make another acct b/c I knew the things I was trying for for the 2nd reservations were not highly sought after. As always, thank you for your response. 🙂

Now I’m confused. I just talked to Disney to make sure my friend was connected on my account so I can make dining reservations that include him, and I was told that online res open at 7 am, not 6 am. I’ve always heard 6, which is accurate? Thanks!

Jane, cast members on the phone are notoriously unreliable. It should be 6a for online, unless something has recently changed–and I can’t find evidence that it has.

Hi Dave, any advice about how to book split ADRs, where half my group will be at one restaurant while the other half is at another? I don’t remember this being hard a few yrs ago but get the impression it may have changed. I used to just specify which guests were at which place and didn’t have trouble, but am wondering if I need to make a new My Disney Experience account for my husband so we can reserve from both. I also read somewhere that having the same account open in two different browsers at once will work. I want to avoid having to wait until 7 am to speak to a person if possible. Thanks for any advice! 🙂

Jane, I can’t find an authoritative source on this, but my belief is that the person making the reservation has to be on the reservation, which suggests you should make them from two accounts

Hi Dave, I want to make sure I set this up right – I have an account I use to shop on Disney do I use this account or set up a new one for our trip? We are staying off site and have already purchased tickets, do I set up my account and add my family and link our tickets to each family member myself or do I have each person set up an account and link to them that way?
    Thank you for your help!

Theresa, your current account *should* work–just go to My Disney Experience https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/my-disney-experience/ and log in. Then add your family members (hover over the link at the top right that also says “My Disney Experience” and click on “My Family and Friends” Once they are in, you can link up tix

I have a question about Magic Bands.

We are planning a 14-day stay, split between 2 hotels on-site. The first is at AOA with 10-day tickets. The second is at the Treehouses and is room-only.

We also plan to upgrade our tickets to APs when we arrive.

I know we will get MagicBands for staying on-site with the first reservation, and I can see those in MDE.

Will we also get MBs for upgrading to APs?

If so, are those limited to the same solid colors as on-site guests?
Will those be mailed to our home, or can we get those while at the park?

Since we have 2 hotel reservations, will we also get MBs for the second hotel stay?

I asked this in a Facebook group and got all sorts of conflicting answers.

I would LOVE to have a collection of MBs to rival yours. I would love to visit WDW enough times to collect that many.

Ann, you can request a separate Magic Band set for each reservation. You can also request MBs for each annual pass. I seem to recollect that the AP option takes a while to show up on MDE–that is, it is not instant. I believe the color set for AP band is the same as for room bands.

But you will never have an MB collection to rival mine! I’m too far ahead…

Thanks Dave! This is very helpful! Gathering information, deep-diving into details, scrolling through pictures of various hotel rooms and rope drops…This is my favourite leisure-time activity lately! I don’t suppose there’s a group for those who tumble too far down the rabbit hole.

Hi Dave! I absolutely love your site! Thank you for providing so much detailed information. My family and I stayed on site in November of 2016 and have kept our MagicBands. If we stay at an off-site hotel for a trip next year can I link our park tickets to our old MagicBands and use them for park entry and FP+? Is an off-site park ticket paper or like a plastic card? What if your paper ticket gets lost or damaged? Thank you!

      Hi Juliette, and thanks!!

Yes, you can link your new tix up via My Disney Experience and use your old Magic bands. If you buy through Disney and from your MDE account, all this should happen automatically. From Disney your actual tix will come either as cards or as a printable PDF with a bar code (your choice)–you’ll also be emailed a receipt. Print the receipt and bring it with you in case of loss–although usually Disney cna sort this out just be getting into your MDE account. Bring your physical tix (card or bar code) the first time you enter a park in case of any difficulties…
