WHAT IS FEBRUARY LIKE AT DISNEY WORLD?
Early February 2020 will have some of the lowest crowds and prices of the year, but also the risk of ride closures.
The very end of the month brings slightly higher prices and crowds, but better weather and few closures.
In between–in 2020 the period from Thursday the 13th of February through Saturday the 22nd–we will see high crowds and high prices.
FEBRUARY 2020 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
Earlier February typically is among the lowest crowd periods of the year.
From a combination of a dance competition, President’s Day (many northeastern school weeks have the whole week off), and a running event, 2020 Disney World February crowds will be high from Thursday the 13th through Saturday the 22nd
Crowds will settle down after the 22nd to low+ levels.
On a crowd scale of 1-11, the week beginning 2/1 has a ranking of 1/lowest, 2/8 6/moderate (lower at the beginning of the week, higher later), 2/15 8 high-minus (worse earlier in the week, better later) and 2/22 4/low+.

FEBRUARY 2020 RESORT HOTEL PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
Hotel prices begin February 2020 at their lowest levels of the year, go 2/13 up for Presidents day, then go to moderate levels on 2/23
- Resort prices begin the month at their lowest levels of the year.
- Prices go up for the long Presidents day period beginning 2/13, to 40-55% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 30% higher at the moderates, and 30-50% higher at the deluxes (prices are a bit lower 2/17—2/19).
- On 2/23, prices drop to 25-30% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 15-20% higher at the moderates, and 20-25% higher at the deluxes, staying at this level into early March.

FEBRUARY 2020 TICKET PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
February 2020 Disney World ticket prices have mixed patterns in February 2020, but are generally low early in the month, average to high in the middle, and a mix of average and low later in the month.

FEBRUARY 2020 WEATHER AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
February Disney World weather is cooler and variable.
Typical temperatures warm up over the course of the month, but variability remains high.
Cold or rainy days—not uncommon—are great for first time visitors, as they reduce the crowds in the parks and make the rides easier to see with low waits.
Returning visitors looking for good days to lounge around the pool should not count on many.

DISNEY WORLD SPECIAL EVENTS IN FEBRUARY 2020
The Epcot International Festival of the Arts will continue through February 24. It will add to World Showcase crowds in Epcot, especially on the weekends.
FEBRUARY 2020 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds. Opening hours may change to 8a.
The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available about six months in advance. Major hours updates–often with later closes–can happen a month before.

I can speak for the crowds at the Magic Kingdom the second week of February 2020. We were there. ., Terrible. Based on the crowds. one might have thought this was June or July, not a winter month. Lines to major attractions were terrible. the people mover exceeded 45-minutes! Its quit obvious that parents pulled kids out of school to go to the Magic Kingdom during off season -all good. That said, when should retirees who grew up with Disney come to the parks? February????

Hey Paul, you are right–crowds have been much higher than anyone expected so far this year. Parents take their kids out of school all the time. The guess is that this year so far was a combo of people re-booking their trips after the Star Wars land announcements (either to avoid September or to get to WDW after all the pieces were opened), re-booking related to Hurricane Dorian, and Star Wars itself–especially Rise of the Resistance–being quite the draw. Meanwhile hours have been cut….

Hey Dave…Happy New Year!!! i’m planning on going to DW soon. I see Jan 26th and Feb 1st are the lowest crowds? I can go either week. Which week would you suggest? Thank you again for all your help! Mike

Hey Mike, I don’t see much difference between the weeks! Lots closed for refurb both weeks–e.g. Splash, Kali, Test Track; prices and crowds about the same

Why is the week of 2/1/2020 ranked so low (48th worst out of 52) if the crowds are so low? Is that because the weather isn’t as nice or because of the potential for ride closures? Thank you.

Hey Jim, my week rankings are for first time visitors who may never return, so they heavily weight possible ride closures.

Hi Dave, I see that you’re recommending the week of 2/22 even though Mardi Gras falls in the middle of that week. I thought Mardi Gras typically brings crowds from the gulf coast vacationers that week? Is there something different going on with their time off this year?

Hi Amy, so few people have Mardi Gras off–and those for so short a time–that it does not have much of an effect of Disney World. See this for the numbers, where the chart below comes from (2/25 is marked in red)
