March 2019 at Walt Disney World

By Dave Shute

WHAT IS MARCH LIKE AT DISNEY WORLD?

The first week of March can be a great time to go to Disney World, and is so in 2019, up until March 8. The rest of the month will mostly be lousy–with high prices and high crowds.

MARCH 2019 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

March crowds begin at moderate levels  but quickly skyrocket, following the patterns of 2019 spring breaks. There’s a bit more variability late in the month because of the late April Easter, but I would still avoid the final two thirds of the month,

On a crowd scale of 1-11, the week beginning  3/2 has a ranking of 6/moderate, 3/9 9/high, 3/16 7/moderate+, and 3/23 10/high.

See this for more on 2019 crowds at Disney World.

MARCH 2019 PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Disney hotel prices begin the month at regular season levels–3o to 30% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 20% higher at the moderates, and 20-25% higher at the deluxes.

On March 8, 2091, the peak season begins and prices go to 35-45% higher at the values, 25% higher at the moderates, and 30-45% higher at the deluxes.

Regular season pricing returns on March 24, and prices continue at that level into early April.

MARCH 2019 DEALS AND DISCOUNTS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

As I post this, deals for the general public are not available for March 2019. If they come out, you’ll be able to find them here.

MARCH 2019 WEATHER AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

March weather shifts from the variable and cooler temperatures of winter to the higher and more predictable temperatures of spring.

For example, at the beginning of March, 80% of the time the daily high will be 70 or better, but it will be higher than the lower 80s only 20% of the time. By the beginning of May, 80% of the time the daily high will be 80 or warmer, and it will be 90 or higher 20% of the time.

Tornadoes can be an issue during this period. See this for more.

DISNEY WORLD SPECIAL EVENTS IN MARCH 2019

The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival will begin on March 6, 2019.

MARCH 2019 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds. Opening hours may change to 8a.

The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available about six months in advance. Major hours updates–often with later closes–can happen a month before.

These calendars can be found by clicking the following links:
