Another reason why Meet the World supposedly never opened at Epcot as planned was because of miscalculations made in the design and construction of the Show Building. According to Blue Prints the ground floor would have Exhibition Space for various Japanese Corporate sponsors. While the actual Meet the World attraction and show would have been on the second floor of the show building. In order for the attraction to be able to function safely, the show building would have to have major rework done. As Epcot’s construction was behind schedule, it was decided to move forward without the attraction and was initially planned open in 1983-the same time as it’s Tokyo Disneyland counterpart.

There were also two others concepts proposed for the Japan Pavilion one was a simulated Shinkansen(Japanese Bullet Train)-that would have been a unique variation of Circle Vision and then in the 1990’s a Mt Fuji Roller Coaster similar to the Matterhorn Bobsleds was planned.

Actually both Tokyo Disneyland and Epcot were supposed to have duplicate versions of Meet the World-Meaning it would have the first Disney attraction to open the same time.

With all the talk about changes coming to Epcot, I have not seen this as a possibility. So I’m thinking no…
