News, Sorta, on the Pirate Room Refurb at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

PIRATE ROOM REFURB UPDATE
I’ll have more to say next month, after my stay then in one of the refurbed Pirate rooms in Trinidad South at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, but here’s what I know–or think I know–now, after a walk-around yesterday and some chats with cast members today.
Buildings 38 and 39 are under construction now. This I saw with my own eyes.
From my walk-about, buildings 34 to 37 seemed to me to have completed their refurbs, other than some exterior touch up painting. This was confirmed by a cast member at the Customs House this morning.
The refurb is pretty light. What I saw was new paint and a new rug. (And yes, I do feel a little bad for being such a snoop. The room is in building 34. I’ll have full photos from my own room after the October visit.)
The rooms seem to have retained their full beds. A cast member from this morning: “We replaced the mattresses, with new, softer ones. But they are still full beds.”
OK, that’s it for now. More in October!!

I stayed in building 36 last week. Still full beds, mattresses are memory foam.
Thanks, Kathryn!!
Thank you for the excellent pictures! We will be there through most of December and your photos have made me even more excited to stay at this resort. Does anybody know the refurb. status yet and what building they are finished with. We have a preferred room booked but not sure if it is worth it to request Jamaica to get the updated rooms. thanks
Columbus, all refurbs are complete with the possible exception of a few pirate rooms in Trinidad South
Hello,
Thank you for your dedication to helping lost and confused parents sort out facts. I know you have answered the questions before, but I need help. My husband is not a lover of Disney( for shame) and I absolutely would love to retire and work there someday. For the sake of time, I will get right to the point. We have stayed at Port Orleans and loved it, but the promotion we are coming in on is not available. Instead we are staying at the Caribbean but not in a preferred room. We need to be close to the bus stop and to the dinning hall, but quiet. Would you best recommend Martinique? Also we would like a room with a murphy bed? I know its a tall order, but would love for you to write me back… We will be traveling in Dec, prior to the holidays, and want this to be a Magical time and not turn into Bahhumbug and I told you so, from the hubby.
Lisa, each village has a bus stop. No non-preferred rooms are close to the dining area in Old Port Royal, but there’s a bridge from Jamaica/Aruba to the main dining area, so either of those or Martinique would be a great choice.
If you have 5 people, you’ll get a Murphy bed room automatically. If not, it’s random…
