Review: The Refurbished Hall of Presidents at Walt Disney World
By Dave Shute
The Hall of Presidents, in the Liberty Square area of the Magic Kingdom, re-opened last year after a refurbishment and the addition of President Obama.
I had a chance to check it out the other day–on a busy Easter week Friday when the Magic Kingdom was open from 7a until 2a.
Obama’s new speech is appropriate and stirring.
That said, the attraction, while it will remain a favorite of many, is still ranked low in this site’s comprehensive guide to rides and attractions.
(This guide ranks all Walt Disney World rides and attractions based both on their appeal to pre-schoolers, and on their appeal to those older.)
In the guide, it is listed as skippable for school age kids and older, and to be avoided by pre-schoolers.
It will bore pre-schoolers to tears; those older will welcome it the more they are intrigued by very patriotic vignettes from U.S. history, or the more they need 20 minutes or so in a comfortable, air-conditioned seat.
Those with only a moderate interest ion U.S. history will be much better served by seeing the American Adventure at Epcot, which, while still very dull for pre-schoolers, does a vastly better job with the show, and a more comprehensive job with the history. This Epcot ride is ranked as a favorite for older kids and adults.
