I just lost a dozen or so of your comments

By Dave Shute

The backbone of ths site is WordPress, and I installed the latest version yesterday afternoon.

The management of “spam comments” is a key daily task–I get, on average, about 10,000 a day.

Spam comment handling  in the new WordPress version confused me–I promise I’ll figure it out–so I just accidentally but permanently deleted about a dozen “real” comments and questions that had come in since yesterday morning.

I’m so sorry!! Repost your comments and I will try really hard not to delete them this time…

I am sorry I lost all these comments!!

That’s okay Dave! A dozen isn’t much considering how many questions you get daily!

My 2 questions were based on the Mods vs. Value and I was wondering if I am spending most of my time in the parks and don’t necessarily care about room size as we use it to eat and shower, but I am more concerned with spending less time on the buses (to and from) than am I better to just stay at a value?

It’s a tougher call than it seems, Sara, because the moderates are mostly closer to the parks (especially MK) than the values, and your bus stop may be a much shorter walk from your room. So despite the extra stops your total transport time may be a little shorter especially at POFQ, and, depending on where your room is, Coronado Springs…

And sorry that you had to re-write this!!

Also, regarding Fast Pass. We were staying at Pop and had the magic bands, we were allotted the 3 per day while we saw others with magic bands AND paper tickets going to the kiosk for more fast passes. I wondered why we were exempt from this as we never received a paper ticket. I LOVE fast pass especially for simpler rides like Peter Pan (the wait for Peter Pan was over 45 minutes daily)

Sara, first Pop, and then the All-Stars, are now in a new phase of the test where the rooms keys issued there don’t work in the old fastpass machines…

I reposted mine in the original thread I posted it in…I’m glad I saw that you lost comments because I wanted you to see the kudos I had for you…Our trip was fantastic because of every review and tip I read here! Thanks again! I had 6 other people to plan for and your site made my job much easier! Everyone came home happy and I couldn’t ask for better payment than their smiles and all the wonderful photos we have of the great memories made!

7 Dave { 12.18.13 at 10:05 am }

Oh KE, thanks so much!!!!!!

8 Sara M { 12.18.13 at 11:07 pm }

I get that, but we weren’t offered any room key in the first place so that was odd.

9 Sara M { 12.18.13 at 11:45 pm }

Okay, so Dave! Just tell me what to do! Ahhhh! Hahaha I think I have sent you at least 20 messages over a year or more… I trust you… but it’s got to be a Value or Mod!

🙂

Also, can we visit the other resorts and eat there? Like AKL?

10 Dave { 12.19.13 at 8:03 am }

On the easy question–yes you can go to and visit and dine at any other resort! The only restriction is that you can’t’t use their pools…

If you aren’t gonna be in your room much, are worried about multiple bus stops, and are un-persuaded of the value-for-money of the moderates, then stick wiht Pop or AofA.

OR… do a split stay. Do half your nights in a standard room at Pop or A of A, and the second half in either a moderate (I suggest POFQ or Coronado Springs for portrait efficiency) or an AofA Family Suite. This way you get to test the value to your family of the extra space without paying for it every night. Do the stay in the order suggested, otherwise the standard value room will feel too small if you go to it second…

You’re the best Dave!

I am going to do a lot more research before booking! I want to read all of your reviews too!

I like the pools at Caribbean Beach- how do the bus stops fare there?

12 Dave { 12.24.13 at 10:03 am }

Sara, CB is the most awkward of the mods to get around in without a car. There’s almost twice as many bus stops as at the other two large moderates, and some areas like Trinidad South just seem a forever walk away from the services in the main building. I really like CBR for its kid appeal, but buses there are a pain…

13 Sara M { 01.02.14 at 9:32 pm }

Hey Dave!

Okay, so I am starting to lean towards a Moderate, only because it would be nice to try out a different hotel, but now that I had such a great time at POP I am actually scared a bit.

I really love CB but I am afraid of the annoyances with the busses and the distance from the main lobby/food court. If we were to stay there, what section would you recommend?

Also why POFQ and not POR?

And why Coronado Springs?

My main factors going on our second trip would be buses, distance from hotel to buses, distance from hotel room to food court (for morning drink fills) and distance from food court in the mornings to the buses.

When we stayed at POP I goofed and had us stay in the 90’s section which was furthest away from the food court!

Also, next I think I would like to spend a little bit more time at the pools and I like that the mods have a water slide.

CB pools like AMAZING! But I don’t want to pick anything strictly based on ONE thing.

Thanks Dave!

Questions, questions, Sara. Coronado has the best buses among the three large moderates. POFQ is much more compact and easier to get around than POR, and has slightly better buses than POR. If you stayed at CB–or any of these but POFQ–to get close to the main services, central pool, etc, you’d want a “preferred room” whihc are 20-25% more expensive… (POFQ doesn’t have preferred rooms.)

Yet one who every now and then loses a dozen comments?

17 Stacey Jax { 01.06.14 at 3:47 am }

HI Sara and Dave,
I have only read a few of your correspondence. I am wondering if Sara has checked in to http://dvcrentalstore.com/? This is the only way my family would ever go again! We have joined the DVC, however if we needed more points I would rent from DVC rental store in an instant! You can most defiantly trust them as a reputable company. We stayed at the Boardwalk for 15 days. You would think it would cost an arm or leg but it didn’t. We loved being in walking distance from Hollywood and Epcot. In June we are staying at the Animal Kingdom for a different experience! You can also get the dining plan if you like through them but I feel like the dining plan is to expensive (my opinion). I am pretty sure you will save more money with the DVC rental than the sale price from Disney.

Cheers,

Stacey

Thanks, Stacey!!

You’re the best there is at what you do and trust me- I use the internet A LOT!

20 Dave { 01.07.14 at 8:20 am }

Oh Sara thanks!! And you have made your way to the “more puffery” section on the lower left!! About 8 entries down…

21 Sara M { 01.06.14 at 3:22 pm }

Stacey- I have NEVER heard of this!

Is this legit?
