Invitations to Disney World’s FastPass+ Tests

By Dave Shute

What You Need to Know About Fastpass+ from yourfirstvisit.netAs you may have seen from What You Need to Know Now About FastPass+ and Frequently Asked Questions about FastPass+, one way to find out if you’ve been invited to Disney World’s tests of FastPass+ is simply to sign in to MyDisneyExperience.com, link up your reservations and tickets, and see what you are offered.

This is what I did, and how I found out about my own FastPass+ eligibility.

But you may also get an email, a UPS letter, or both.

EMAIL NOTIFICATION OF YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR DISNEY WORLD’S MYMAGIC+ TEST

The email I got is below. Click it to enlarge it, and note that it’s personalized to our visit.

FastPass+ Invitation Email from yourfirstvisit.net

UPS NOTIFICATION OF YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR DISNEY WORLD’S MYMAGIC+ TEST

I also got a letter from UPS–so if you are counting at home, I found out myself first and signed up then, then got a letter, and then got an email.

FastPass+ UPS Envelope Invitation from yourfirstvisit.netThe UPS envelope has–on both front and back, though I’m just showing the back–something that’s different than most UPS mailings…note the left side, center.

The front page of the UPS letter (below) is similar to the first part of the email (as always, click the images to enlarge.)

Fastpass+ Letter Page 1 from yourfirstvisit.netThe second page, below, is like the second half of the email–tightly personalized.

Fastpass+ Letter Page 2 from yourfirstvisit.net

Note that both the letter and email have the steps you have to go through–which is what everybody needs!

So you might find out you are eligible for the FastPass+ test by logging in to MyDisneyExperience, you might find out via email, you might find out via UPS–and you might find out all three ways!

MagicBand from yourfirstvisit.netAnd, if you are eligible–once you go through and do everything…you’ll have your FastPass+ and your MagicBand!

Wow, great! We want to hear your impressions Dave. Btw, when do you get your magic bands? While checking in at the lobby? Or do they send it by mail? What happens in case you don’t get them? Do you get replacements?
Cheers

If there’s enough time–I’ve heard ten days–they mail them. Mine’s on the way now. Otherwise I guess it is at check in…and be sure that I’ll let everyone know how it goes!

Hope this finds you well – we are traveling to Wilderness Lodge Nov 23 – 29th. Would we already know if we were chosen?

Thanks!

Hi Wendy! There’s two issues–extension of the test into November, which I expect, but we may not hear about for a bit, and then not being able to do a yachting until 60 day before your arrival date, even if it’s extended!

5 Brigitte { 09.03.13 at 4:25 pm }

I have already received our Magic Bands! My parents are traveling with us, but under a different reservation number, do you know of any way to get them added to the experience!

6 Dave { 09.04.13 at 7:19 am }

Brigitte, are they eligible for the test?

7 Mike { 09.03.13 at 5:05 pm }

Wendy, as far as I know, no invitations yet for us Nov folks. Wilderness Lodge not yet in the group of testing resorts but seems a better than 50/50 bet it will be by Nov. There are a few other rumors out there that testing will be suspended for Nov and Dec, but I find this not very credible. Dave, have you heard anything about November testing?

8 Kuleen @ TheDisneyKids.com { 09.03.13 at 5:45 pm }

Thank you for the info. A lot of this new Magic Band and FastPass stuff seems so confusing, so it is nice to read about how it is working for other people.

9 Dave { 09.04.13 at 7:19 am }

Thanks, Kuleen–hope you get to try them soon!

10 Mike { 09.03.13 at 7:16 pm }

Is the Grand Floridian in the testing group? We will be there at the end of October.

11 Dave { 09.04.13 at 7:20 am }

Mike, not so far.

12 Wendy { 09.03.13 at 11:18 pm }

Thanks, Mike…we can hope!

13 Jackie { 09.04.13 at 1:44 am }

We got ours a couple of weeks ago and will be in Disney Sept 7th

14 Dave { 09.04.13 at 7:22 am }

Cool, Jackie!!! Have fun and let me know what you think…

15 Pamela { 09.05.13 at 10:35 am }

I found out that we are eligible to get magic bands by clicking on links on the website. I didnt recieve an email nor a letter. Would have loved the letter in the mail for scrapbook..oh well. We are staying at Art of Animation in October. Still trying to get fast pass set up though for extra day we have tickets to Halloween party, but Its not letting us fast pass the extra day for this. I am so excited I get a band though..

16 Dave { 09.06.13 at 6:30 am }

Cool, Pamela!!

17 Amanda { 09.05.13 at 12:11 pm }

I have the same question as Brigitte. My parents have a separate reservation, but we’re all staying at POR. I customized our Magic Bands and have been looking into the Fastpass+ options… but want to make sure I can include all 5 of us, not just my family of 3. Thanks for your help!

18 Dave { 09.06.13 at 6:34 am }

Amanda, I don’t know technically how to do this, and its all a little too fresh to find out how to do it for sure…but you should be able to link all of yours up…Worst case, do the Fastpass+ selections at the same time–while on the phone together if you are distant–so that your events and times are aligned.

Was this even remotely helpful? Then mosey on over to the home page, and like it on Facebook or pin it on Pinterest!

Today I logged in and clicked on FastPass+ and was able to make reservations for our trip in mid-October! We did not receive an email invitation or anything, I just tried the link to see if it worked (it did not work when I tried two weeks ago). Thrilled that we’ve now secured three rides at each park each day we are there, and worked it around our other reservations for meals! We are also getting the bands, since I clicked on that link and found that active as well!

20 Dave { 09.07.13 at 10:39 am }

Yay, Jaynee!!!

“then not being able to do a yachting until 60 day before your arrival date, even if it’s extended!”

Dave – what is yachting? Well, I know what it is in the large boat on the water sense – but not in the WDW sense…

Wendy

22 Dave { 09.07.13 at 10:42 am }

Wendy, had i not made clear that one is required to go yachting to be admitted to Disney World? 🙂

Sorry–auto correct messed with “on-line check in.”

23 Allison - Agent with Destinations in Florida { 09.07.13 at 6:52 pm }

I know everyone is so excited about this new customer service. We are trying it out this week and next week. I can’t wait to share my feedback!

24 Dave { 09.08.13 at 12:08 pm }

Looking forward to hearing it, Allison!!

25 Wendy { 09.07.13 at 8:54 pm }

I am not a fan of “LOL ” speak – but I actually was laughing out loud!

Try as I might, I could not figure it out!

Wendy

26 Wendy { 09.07.13 at 8:55 pm }

laughing and added an extra was!

27 Dave { 09.08.13 at 12:16 pm }

Wendy, I’ve deleted the extra “was”–let me know if you’d rather the syntax put the “was” in the other spot.

You do know that multiple “was,” suspect syntax, avoiding LOL, and resisting yachting at 60 days (who are you not to yacht when all other WDW guests must do so…) really harms your internet cred??

🙂

28 Wendy { 09.08.13 at 10:46 pm }

It is hard to be such a rebel!

Wendy

29 Sara { 09.18.13 at 12:51 am }

If you are staying at shades of green do you not qualify to test the magic bands?

30 Dave { 09.18.13 at 6:56 am }

No, Sara, only the Disney-owned resorts are in the test…

Was this even remotely helpful?

Well then mosey on over to the home page, and like it on Facebook or pin it on Pinterest!

I am feeling a little confused about the magic band and fast pass for visitors that are staying off site. We are arriving in April 2015 and I am having trouble finding info regarding how we can access fast pass and if we can pre purchase a magic band if we are not staying at a resort.

32 Dave { 10.09.14 at 8:27 am }

Kathy, this is all covered in Chapter 9 of our book, but basically you need to set up a My Disney Experience account, and buy tickets. With the tickets linked up in your account you can make FP+ reservations 30 days before planned use. You don’t need a magic band.
