For the week of April 6th, would it be more crowded on weekdays or weekends which would be Good Friday to Easter Sunday?

Thanks Susan–I fixed the typo where I got it wrong. It’s right in all the analysis–I just ditzed once in the text!

Dave- your dates for Mardi Gras are incorrect. Both 2020 and 2021 have Fat Tuesday in February; 25th and 16th, respectively.

We went to Disney last year on the second week of April. You were the only site that said that week would be great crowd wise. It was a fabulous trip and you were correct! Due to school schedules this year, we are attempting to go the second week of March. I am hoping for light crowds but preparing for higher. Thank you for all the info you provide on this website!

Hi Lydia, and thanks!! My call for that week is still “at the bad end of OK.” Good daily plans will resolve much of the uncertainty. AMong other places, you can find such plans in my book.

Hi Dave, we just returned from our first trip to Orlando in 4 yrs and, to my surprise, my husband wants to return immediately. :O With our older kids we just did Universal for the first time and also went back to WDW for our 3rd visit. It was definitely much harder this time than in 2014 and 15 b/c the Thanksgiving week crowds were worse. (I’m assuming b/c of SWGE and also the consistently great weather we were blessed with, which we did not have the other times). I am not that keen on going back at Thanksgiving next year, but my husband suggested our spring break which is the very popular Easter plus the week after option. I know that WDW is terrible then, but I am getting mixed messages from the crowd calendars I’m seeing for Universal. Do you happen to know if very busy at WDW also translates to very busy at U? Plus I’d hate to be there and not at least go to WDW so I don’t think this is a good option for us. I was already looking at late August before he suggested April, but my goal was to do mostly the water parks that we’ve never done, b/c we hate heat but are ok in water. I figured late August at the regular parks was good for extremely early mornings, leaving parks by noon, then returning at night after a long afternoon of napping and pools. I’d appreciate any insight here. I do know that we already missed the ADR 6 month mark for mid April, but since we’ve been 3 times I wasn’t that worried about that, esp if we stayed mostly at Universal (in a hotel that gives early entry and express pass).

Jane, frankly there are very few crowd calendars worth a whole lot. Spring break crowds are largely a function of kids being out of school, and the school point applies equally to WDW, Universal, Sea World, etc. See this for more on that and especially the charts. Folks who don’t do this kind of work have no real basis for predicting crowds other than the past patterns, and because Easter moves around, the past is not very reliable.

I also appreciate them. Your info convinced me that next March late in the month would not be a good time to go during my friend’s break from school.

One of my favorite yourfirstvisit posts because you are scarily accurate for Spring Break predictions. I’m doing a short visit, probably April 21-24, so looking forward to the 5’s!

Thanks, L. As you can imagine, an enormous amount of work goes into these, so it’s nice to know that at least one person appreciates them!! 🙂
