AMENITIES AT DISNEY’S CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT
Check-in and most concierge services at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort are at the “Customs House.”
The Customs House building is within reasonable walking distance of Barbados, but not much else. Luckily an internal bus route will take those without cars to one of the half dozen bus stops serving the “villages” each with 3 to 6 accommodations buildings. Each village has its own bus stop, and there’s also stops at Old Port Royale and the Customs House.
However, once you are settled, check the map. At Aruba and Martinique a different bus stop than “yours” may be closer to your accommodations building.
Each accommodations building has a lovely interior courtyard.
Each village has its own quiet pool…
…and has a beach as well.
Another beach view…
…and another.
Otherwise, the action is at the Old Port Royal Centertown Section.
Here you’ll find the gift shop…
…which also has additional concierge support–a godsend, given how far the Customs House is.
Caribbean Beach’s food court–weak among the moderate offerings–is here as well, and is designed to recall a Caribbean streetscape—which works best in the evening.
The seating area for the food court.
Further down the streetscape you’ll find Shutters, the table service restaurant here.
The interior of Shutters.
Shutters got a new chef a couple of years ago, and is now the best table service restaurant among the traditional moderates. Here’s the review from world-famous The easy Guide to Your First Walt Disney World Visit:
The menu as of my last visit (as always on this site, click it to enlarge it)…
…and the pan-seared crab cakes!
There’s no indoor bar at Caribbean Beach…
…but there is a large outdoor bar just outside, also convenient to the main pool.
The marina here shut down in early 2014. There’s fishing holes on Caribbean Cay (which used to be called “Parrot Cay”), just outside Centertown.
On Caribbean Cay is one of the many playgrounds scattered around the resort.
Also in the Old Port Royale/Centertown area is the great Fuentes del Morro main pool

Kelley, yes–there are Murphy bed rooms in every village except Trinidad South. However, so far at least you can’t request them. Families who book 5 people 3 or older get them automatically; for everyone else it’s luck.
Does Jamaica have any murphy bed rooms? If not, what areas do? And being a family of 4, we can’t request one or can we? My daughter and son would prefer separate beds. Thanks :o)
Alicia, there’s two bus types–buses to the parks and internal buses. Park buses–e.g. for MK–come in, stop at all the stops, and head to the parks. So it’s just like at Pop but with more stops first. Internal buses just go round and round and round the resort. You don’t take two. Just go to the bus stop and wait for the bus labeled for your destination.
We aren’t going until November 2015 so plenty of time for the 5 person booking. Can you explain a little about the internal buses. Is there a bus that takes you from your building to a main stop that takes you to the parks? We have been before but have always stayed a value, but on our next trip my youngest will be 4. We are just trying to find the best value for us.
Alicia, right now you can’t book 5 people into CB, so depending on your timing it may be a moot point. But so long as you avoid Trinidad South and Barbados CB beats POR on every dimension except transport convenience. There’s a review of POR here: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2013/02/06/review-disneys-port-orleans-riverside-resort-2/
