DISNEY WORLD AND TROPICAL STORM ISAAC
We’ve entered the peak of the hurricane season, and Tropical Storm Isaac is currently expected to turn into a (mild) hurricane over the next day or so, but is no longer expected to much threaten Central Florida or Orlando.
Update 8/27: Isaac’s track shifted substantially westward on Sunday.
Under current forecasts, Isaac will largely miss Orlando and Walt Disney World, but will bring rain, wind, and the possibility of tornadoes on Monday, with some rain lasting into Tuesday.
For links on Isaac from the Orlando Sentinel, see this.
For thoughts on how to spend a stormy day at Walt Disney World, see this.
WALT DISNEY WORLD 2012 HURRICANE POLICY
Disney World’s hurricane policy can be found here.
Here’s the key point:
“If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area or for your place of residence no more than 7 days before your scheduled arrival date, you may call in advance to reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Magic Your Way vacation package and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney.”
(Thanks to Steve at MilitaryDisneyTips.com for making me aware of this policy!!)

Fingers crossed, Amanda!
We plan on flying in on Monday and my daughter’s birthday is Tuesday. Let’s all hope it goes west into the gulf so we can all pull out a decent vacation!
We just cancelled two of our hotels and the other is yet to be cancelled since it’s non-refundable.I’m devastated because we’ve been planning this since June. My heart still wants to go though my husband insisted the opposite.
Oh joy! Isaac hits on Tuesday, and guess who’s flying in that day! We may have to cancel. We’ve be scheduled for months!
