    Hi Dave

I am the same Danny, that posted on the seven night summer itinerary. Just want to let you know, I feel sorry that your mother died, and you are having a sad time. I can also say, that your mother did a good job to raise you, to make this wonderful site.

Dave, I’m so very sorry to learn of your great loss. My computer was running slow yesterday & it never showed your message about not being able to respond. I would have never been so rude as to leave a question if I had known. I just went back on today and saw the sad news.

I can see by your site that you are a very caring and thoughtful person to give of your time for the help of others so that they might gain from your knowledge. Your mother must have been very proud of you and taught her children well.

My prayers are with you now & in the days ahead.

I am so sad for you – it is a hard sad thing, and grief comes in waves. I lost my mom in September – she was 65. I love the eulogy bits; writing my mom’s was fun for me, it was a really joyous part.

Knowing that I am exactly where I am meant to be helps me, a lot. As a mother, I know what that means for a parent to see their kid happy and in the right place, so I take comfort that my mom got to see that fulfilled for me. I’m pretty positive your mom had the pleasure of that, too. 🙂

Mourn well, and celebrate that graduation.

Well, with joy and sorrow we buried my mom on a beautiful morning on Saturday. My dad designed, and my sister did the logistics for, a wonderful ceremony.

Three different groups of friends got together and made donations in my mom’s name to Give Kids the World and the Make a Wish Foundation.

My sister and I divided the eulogy between us, and in my part I thanked those friends, and all of you, in paragraph 173.

Other good bits from the eulogy:

From para 114 (about mom’s advancing age) “this was the time in our lives when her phrase ‘I’m laughing so hard I’m gonna pee in my pants’ shifted from metaphor to early warning”

From para 263 “Now she’s with her mom, and with her sister and best friend my Aunt Nancy, and she’s with with her first born, my big sister Martha Ann, taken from us so young, and with Martha Ann she’s playing patty-cake and chasing butterflies in the flower-strewn meadows of an eternal spring…thanks to the grace of God”

And from para 264 “In conclusion, a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs, and hot sauce–oops, that’s my shopping list…Sorry mom!!”

Now I have to get things back on track at the real job, in what was already planned to be a short week because of younger son’s graduation. I hope to get back to the regular publication schedule around April 22, but will be putting out key stuff “Next Week…,” likely “November 2013” and any breaking news before then.

The support from all of you really helped a lot, and while it doesn’t seem right to single out anyone…Terry, your comment ( https://yourfirstvisit.net/2013/04/09/publication-notice/#comment-214907 ) really bowled me over…thanks.

As the weeks have gone by, and our trip starts Saturday, I have spent quite a bit of time on this site.

I imagine I am not alone thinking you are sometimes just sitting nearby offering great tips and advice, and that I have gotten to know a bit of you on the way.

Thanks for all the things you have made here and all the help you have provided to so many people.

Your mom must have been incredibly proud, and she raised a great person.
Very very sorry for your loss.
