OVERVIEW: MAYÂ 2016 AT DISNEY WORLD
This page reviews May 2016 Walt Disney World crowds, prices, deals and discounts, weather, and operating hours; adds a few other notes; and ends with week by week summaries.
Earlier May is a great time to visit Walt Disney World, with low crowds, moderate prices, and good weather.
Crowds build over the month, and the end of the month sees high crowds from Memorial Day, and the beginning of humid and rainy summer weather.
MAY 2016 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
Few US school kids are on break in earlier May. Summer breaks in some districts begin in later May, and many families go during Memorial Day week (Memorial Day in 2016 is May 28).
I rank the weeks beginning April 30 and May 7 as 4/low-plus crowds, the week of May 14th as 5/moderate minus crowds, and the week of May 21st as 6/moderate crowds.

MAYÂ 2016 PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
May hotel prices begin the month 25% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, and 20% higher than the lowest of the year at the moderates and deluxes.
Prices then stay at this level until the Friday before Memorial Day–May 27. Â That night they change to 45% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 15% higher than the lowest of the ear at the moderates, and 10% higher than the lowest of the year at the deluxes.

MAYÂ 2016 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds.
The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available six months in advance.

Casey, I don’t have any itineraries that will work. This one is the closest, but is designed for kids older than your 5 year old. To make it work, shift what it shows as Mon Tues and Weds to Sun Mon and Tues, do what it shows Fri on Weds, and shift the last two days to Fri and Sat.
Alternatively, suggest at those ages 2-3 days at MK, one each at Epcot, AK and HS. Use the touring plans in Chapter 6 for the actual days, and use Josh’s calendar here to pick your parks.
