OVERVIEW: AUGUST 2015 AT DISNEY WORLD
This page reviews August 2015 Walt Disney World crowds, prices, deals and discounts, weather, and operating hours; adds a few other notes; and ends with week by week summaries.
There are no great times to visit in August. Kids start going back to school in August, so crowds go down later in the month–but that’s also when the peak of the hurricane season kicks off.
Prices begin the month low at the deluxes, OK at the moderates, and high at the values. Moderate and value prices drop to among the lowest of the year August 16
For first-timers who can’t return, the best week is that beginning 8/8–higher crowds and prices than later in the month, but lower hurricane risk.
For those who can return–or are returning–the later in the month, the better.

Hi. First off I love your site. Planning our 3rd trip 8/20-8/31 with 10 day tickets with last year’s bounce back offer so we have free dining. Staying at french quarter, me, husband and daughter(11). Having a tough time planning itinerary. No park on arrival day or departure day. Also no park hoppers. What would you recommend?
Beth, i do think that for first timers the Deluxe plan wastes time, money or both. Targeting on average one scheduled meal a day is much more sane.
The stuff on this site is aimed at kids 8 and older, but you can find-character-centered itineraries for younger folk in Chapter 6 of my book The easy Guide to Your First Walt Disney World Visit 2015
