DISNEY WORLD AND TROPICAL STORM ISAAC
We’ve entered the peak of the hurricane season, and Tropical Storm Isaac is currently expected to turn into a (mild) hurricane over the next day or so, but is no longer expected to much threaten Central Florida or Orlando.
Update 8/27: Isaac’s track shifted substantially westward on Sunday.
Under current forecasts, Isaac will largely miss Orlando and Walt Disney World, but will bring rain, wind, and the possibility of tornadoes on Monday, with some rain lasting into Tuesday.
For links on Isaac from the Orlando Sentinel, see this.
For thoughts on how to spend a stormy day at Walt Disney World, see this.
WALT DISNEY WORLD 2012 HURRICANE POLICY
Disney World’s hurricane policy can be found here.
Here’s the key point:
“If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area or for your place of residence no more than 7 days before your scheduled arrival date, you may call in advance to reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Magic Your Way vacation package and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney.”
(Thanks to Steve at MilitaryDisneyTips.com for making me aware of this policy!!)

I am alittle worried too..Their are 7 of us going to small children and we arrive sat. A thunderstorm we can handle but we have never been through a hurricane and it just sounds bad : (
I Have my fingers and toes crossed for you, Kristy, (and for me, as I arrive Wednesday!) but still think the worst case is heavy rain. Rain cuts crowds, so it’s not all bad!
i’m starting to worry…we are due in orlando on Sunday afternoon, we’ve had this trip planned since Jan 🙁
