2016 Free Dining Rumors

By Dave Shute

A friend of the site just let me know that South American travel agents are posting about Free Dining.

2016 Free Dining Rumors from your firstvisit.net

Here’s what they are saying:

Free Dining will become available for booking April 25th

It will cover arrival dates of

  • 8/14* up to 10/1/2016
  • 11/15 to 11/21
  • 11/26 to 11/28
  • 12/10 to 12/21

It will require a three night minimum stay, and a minimum of two ticket days.

Value resorts will offer the Quick Service plan for free and moderates and deluxes the Regular Dining Plan

Excluded resorts will include Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation, All Star Movies, Port Orleans French Quarter, Bay Lake Tower, Polynesian Bungalows and Grand Floridian Villas.

This is just a rumor, but parts of it jibe quite well with some other stuff that’s come out the last few days, and my source is usually reliable!!

*Other rumors have it beginning 8/23

Same in the UK

These dates seem odd; nothing the month of october, dates falling on the week of thanksgiving and dates up until 3 days of Christmas.

The 2015 dates, FYI

August 28 – October 2
October 25 – October 31
November 8 – November 19
December 15 – December 21

Did they mention anything about VISA cardholders first? If the rumor is true, will it be officially announced on Monday?

Davis, rumor has it that the Visa deals will come out the 21st.

I see PO-Riverside is not excluded, and we have set dates for September 26 – October 3, 2016. I haven’t made reservations because I have read pros and cons of doing that ahead of time, and having to either call in and change reservations or booking 2nd set of reservations and cancelling the first after they are confirmed. With PO-Riverside not on the rumored list so far, and with the probability that it will book up fast, would you recommend booking now and at least securing the room? We have made reservations based on having free dining, but if we don’t get them, we are prepared to cancel all but our favorites.
Also, I haven’t used a Disney Vacation Planner before and wondered if it would be better to book through one to better guarantee getting a free dining plan? Or would setting my clock for 6 a.m. EST be my best bet to secure the dining plan?

Wendy, first this is all rumor so far. POR may find its way to the excluded list.

My advice is that if you are pretty committed to a resort and set of dates to go ahead and book it, and view FD as just upside. The reaons is that the resort may book out on you if you wait.

Working with a vacation planner can help with the search for a deal…recently Disney has been releasing inventory slowly into deals, and planners have an easier time searching over multiple days to try to find a deal for you…

We are booked for a trip starting November 13, 2016. I hope we can get free dining, I have seen a couple different dates for November, some say the 15 – 21 some say 11-21. I have heard that you can ‘split’ your stay to get the free dining. Not sure if that is the way to go or not. I hear the November 15 date more than the November 11 date but I agree with Katie that the dates a little strange to me as well.

Any words of wisdom?

Thank you for your response Dave. Looks like I’ll be making reservations before the 25th.

What’s the best way to go about booking a hotel for one of these times? Do you have a travel agent you recommend?

11 Emily { 04.20.16 at 8:43 am }

Sorry I just read your travel agent blog!

I’m new to having a Disney visa. If free dining is released to card holders first how will they notify me?

13 Rick { 04.24.16 at 11:21 pm }

So far no heads up notice from Disney VISA…

Disney has released both regular and visa Discount offers today (4/25). The difference in these offers is that Disney Visa card holders have more dates available to them. I would be more than happy to help you book a magical Disney vacation and check for availability for any of these offers. You can contact me at KellyB@DestinationsInFlorida.com or 980-429-4499
