June 2016 at Walt Disney World

By Dave Shute

June   July    August   September   October   November   December

OVERVIEW: JUNE 2016 AT DISNEY WORLD

June 2016 at Walt Disney World from yourfirstvisit.netThis page reviews June 2016 Walt Disney World crowds, prices, deals and discounts, weather, and operating hours; adds a few other notes; and ends with week by week summaries.

If you must go to Disney World in the summer, the beginning of June is your best choice for a first visit.

Crowds, while not good, are lower then than most of the rest of the summer, prices are OK–except at the value resorts–and the full weight of summer weather is not yet in place.

(The end of August is the next best choice.  Prices and crowds are much better, but you are not only in peak summer then, but also the peak of the hurricane season.)

Crowds build over June, peaking the last week of the month.

JUNE 2016 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Memorial Day, May 30, is late in 2016, so adds to crowds at the end of May and first few days of June. More and more schools let out over June, so crowds are OK after memorial Day week but build to its end.

I rank the week beginning May 28 as 8/ high-minus crowds, the week beginning June 4 as 7/ moderate-plus crowds, the weeks beginning June 11 and June 18 as 8/high-minus crowds, and the week beginning June 25 as 9/ high crowds.

See this for more on 2016 crowds at Disney World.

JUNE 2016 PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

On May 27, 2016 Disney summer prices begin, and stay at this level through June.  Prices are 45% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 15% higher than the lowest of the year at the moderates, and 10% higher than the lowest of the year at the deluxes.

See this for more on 2016 resort hotel prices at Walt Disney World.

JUNE 2016 WEATHER AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

June weather is hot and humid, with afternoon storms common. It is not as bad as July and August, but nearly so.

The hurricane season officially begins June 1, but hurricanes are a rarely a threat until mid-August…

JUNE 2016 SPECIAL EVENTS

Star Wars Weekends have been cancelled for 2015.

JUNE 2016 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds.

The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available six months in advance.

These calendars can be found by clicking the following links:

Hello Dave,

My daughter(8yrs) have multiple life threatening food allergies. We have been thinking of Disney World from couple years. Do you any ressort which will have kitchen suites? we plan to cook her food to be safe. Thanks, Gagan

Gagan, first Disney is really, really good with food allergies. See this.

Second, you can find full kitchens in DVC one and two bedroom villas (see this) and also in the Cabins at Fort Wilderness (although the cabins are renovating to lose their oven and replace it with a convection microwave.)

I’m hoping to have a trip planned for June 5-10 for college graduation with one of my friends. We both love Disney, but have never been in the summer. Is there anything you recommend trying since we will have no children with us?

Kelly, I’m not sure what you are asking…
