June 2020 at Walt Disney World

By Dave Shute

April   May   June   July   August   September   October

Walt Disney World is closed until further notice.  It is accepting reservations for stays beginning June 1.  That does not mean it will re-open then.

WHAT IS JUNE LIKE AT DISNEY WORLD?

If you must go to Disney World in the summer, the very beginning of June is your best choice for a first visit.

Crowds, while not good, are lower than than much of the rest of the summer, hotel prices are OK, except at the value resorts, ticket prices are average earlier in the month but higher later, and the full weight of summer weather is not yet in place.

(The end of August is the next best summer choice.  Prices and crowds are much better, but you are not only in peak summer heat then, but also the peak of the hurricane season.)

JUNE 2020 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

June crowds begin OK, but quickly hit high levels as more and more kids get out of school.

On a crowd scale of 1-11, the first week of the month -beginning 5/30/2020–has a crowd ranking of 7/moderate minus. I mark the rest of the month as 8/high-minus.

Summer crowds have been down the past few years.  I expect them to be higher in 2020, with three new rides at Hollywood Studios and perhaps the first new ride opening as part of Epcot’s re-imagining all open by or during the summer.

See this for more on 2020 crowds at Disney World.

JUNE 2020 RESORT HOTEL PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Disney World hotel prices begin June at a mix of levels, and stay there through the month

  • At the value resorts, prices all month long are 30-45% higher than the lowest of the year
  • At the moderate resorts, prices all month long are 15-20% higher than the lowest of the year
  • At the deluxe resorts, prices all month long are 10-15% higher than the lowest of the year

See this for more on 2020 resort hotel prices at Walt Disney World.

JUNE 2020 TICKET PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

June 2020 Disney World ticket prices begin the month at average levels, with some low prices at short to medium ticket lengths, but hit high levels by June 21 for most ticket lengths.  Shorter tickets whose eligible use days include the Fourth of July are even higher.

JUNE 2020 WEATHER AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

June weather is hot and humid, with afternoon storms common. It is not as bad as July and August, but nearly so.

The hurricane season officially begins June 1, but hurricanes are a rarely a threat until mid-August…

DISNEY WORLD SPECIAL EVENTS IN JUNE 2020

The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival will have its last day June 1.

JUNE 2020 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds.

The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available about six months in advance. Major hours updates–often with later closes–can happen a month before.

These calendars can be found by clicking this link.
