September 2015 at Walt Disney World

By Dave Shute

OVERVIEW: SEPTEMBER 2015 AT DISNEY WORLD

September 2015 at Walt Disney World from yourfirstvisit.netThis page reviews September 2015 Walt Disney World crowds, prices, deals and discounts, weather, and operating hours; adds a few other notes; and ends with week by week summaries.

September combines low crowds with low prices, and typically also has a great room rate and free dining deals as well.

This makes it a great month for returning visitors.

But it has lousy weather, combining continuing summer heat and humidity with the peak of the hurricane season, making me not so keen on the month for first time visitors who may never return.

SEPTEMBER 2015 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

September is one of the least crowded months of the year.

However, effects of the Halloween Party and Food and Wine can make certain days quite crowded  at certain parks.  See this for how to avoid them.

On a crowd scale of 1-11, the week beginning 8/29 has a crowd rating of 3/low, the week beginning 9/5 2/lower, the weeks beginning 9/12 and 9/19 1/lowest, and the week beginning 9/26 4/low-plus.

See this for more on 2015 crowds at Disney World.

SEPTEMBER 2015 PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

September 2015 prices begin among the lowest of the year. On September 11 they go up to 10% higher than the lowest of the year at the values and 8% higher at the moderates. On September 25, deluxe prices go to 12% higher than the lowest of the year.

Deals are available for September 2015. Details are here.

SEPTEMBER 2015 WEATHER AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

September weather is hot and humid, with afternoon storms common.

The hurricane season officially begins June 1, but hurricanes a rarely a threat until mid-August. The peak of the hurricane season begins then.  Hurricanes rarely have an impact on a Disney World vacation, but mid-August begins the period when such an impact is most likely. All of September is in this period.

SEPTEMBER 2015 SPECIAL EVENTS

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off September 15.

The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival begins September 25.

SEPTEMBER 2015 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds.

The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available six months in advance.

These calendars can be found by clicking the following links:

Hi Dave, question to help us with planning our nov 2015 trip. With Vet day falling on a Wed this year, do you anticipate MVMCPs that week to be on Mon, Thu, Fri as has been tradition last few years or Sun, Tue, Thu, Fri like most other weeks, and last time Vet day fell on a Wed in 2009?

Mike that’s a great question.

I won’t be forecasting MVMCP for another month–but I expect my forecast will be Mon/Thur/Fri. That’s been, as you note, the pattern the last three years, and there was too much general variability 2011 and prior for me to put much stock in 2009 as a predictive pattern.

Touringplans.com, BTW, has M/T/T/F as its forecast. If that’s so, Wednesday will be a heck of a day at MK!!

Looks like it will be Sun, Tue, Thu, and Fri for MVMCP on Vet day week. Will shake up our plans a bit this year. We’ll probably do MK Sun, Tu, and Fr this year and skip the nighttime entertainment or watch from Poly. We always go to MK on Wed, but I wonder if Wed will be much busier this week with so many MVMCPs, or still low, comparable to Tue.

Yup, Mike–I expect Weds the 11th will be a wreck. But with FastPass+ you can still have a good time just before the nighttime entertainment!

Hello Dave!
Long time not showing up around here, but as usual terrific stuff!
I am planning a trip for the first week of October, I would have written it at the October entry had there been one available hehehe, so I was wondering if there was any free menu offer or similar for that week.
I see that Art of Animation has no vacancy in the Little Mermaid rooms for that week so they were offering All star or POP instead. Any suggestion among any of the 4 of them? We have already been twice to Pop but never to any of the All star.
I’ve heard that they were refurbished, so they do not look that old as they were before.
Congrats and keep up the great job, Tom

Hey Tom!

October is coming out Sunday lol. However, no deals are out that extend past mid-June. The earliest I’d expect to see October deals come out is May. Maybe much later.

Among the All-Stars, Music is best-loved by adults, and Movies by kids.

However, my guess is that the Movies food court will be being refurbed then (because Sports’s was in 2013, and Music’s in 2014…) which would make me suggest Music. Here’s the scoop on Music, although the room photos are out of date–I have a new set from January 2015, but haven’t put them up on my review page yet. One from that visit is below.

Ok, so Music could be a chance then. I will review it with the financial advisor, aka “wife” hehehe.
However, I will definitely wait until May or so to get a free dining plan or similar.
Thanks a lot!

We are going Sept 27- Oct 2. The crowds are a 4 plus. Is that super busy? Should I worry? Thanks

9 Dave { 04.30.15 at 4:13 pm }

Liz, my crowd calendars go from 1-Lowest to 11–Highest. So 4 is good!!
