OVERVIEW: JUNE 2014 AT DISNEY WORLD

June 2014 at Walt Disney World from yourfirstvisit.netThis page reviews June 2014 Walt Disney World crowds, prices, deals and discounts, weather, and operating hours; adds a few other notes; and ends with week by week summaries.

If you must go to Disney World in the summer, the beginning of June is your best choice for a first visit.  Crowds while not good, are lower then than most of the rest of the summer, prices are OK–except at the value resorts–and the full weight of summer weather is not yet in place.

(The end of August is the next best choice.  Prices and crowds are much better, but you are not only in peak summer then, but also the peak of the hurricane season.)

Crowds build over June, peaking the week that includes the 4th of July (a Friday in 2014, so the most crowded June week is that beginning June 28).

Moreover, Star Wars Weekends look to continue through June 8 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, leading to massive crowds there on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the 8th.

JUNE 2014 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

June crowds begin at the moderate-plus level, but as more and more kids get out of school, they quickly build to high levels, and peak at the end of the month, because of crowds drawn by the 4th of July holiday.

On a crowd scale of 1-11, the week beginning 5/31 has a crowd rating of 7/moderate plus, the week beginning 6/7 8/high-minus, the next two weeks 9/high, and the week beginning 6/28 and crowd ranking of 10/higher.

See this for more on 2014 crowds at Disney World.

JUNE 2014 PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

June hotel prices are 50% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, but only 13% higher at the moderates and 10% higher at the deluxes.

See this for more on 2014 resort hotel prices at Walt Disney World.

The past few years, ticket prices have gone up in early June.  Buying your tickets early will avoid this increase!

JUNE 2014 WEATHER AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

June weather is hot and humid, with afternoon storms common.  It is not quite as bad as July and August, but nearly so.

The hurricane season officially begins on June 1, but hurricanes are rarely a threat until mid-August.

JUNE 2014 SPECIAL EVENTS

Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios look to continue through June 8th, 2014, based on typical adjustments to Disney’s operating calendar that happen after that weekend.

JUNE 2014 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds.

The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available six months in advance.

These calendars can be found by clicking the following links:

Hello! We have booked our Disney vacation for June 2-9. I just found out that these are Gay Days. Will this affect us much? I see they have a schedule of different parks every day, and I’m worried that even if we avoid those parks, attendance will be high at the other parks because if people doing the same thing. Does your ranking take Gay Days attendance into account? Thank you!

Lisa, my ranking does take Gay Days into account. You’ll face lower crowds if you avoid the parks on the Gay Days schedule, but most people don;t know about them, or don;t think to change their schedules, so the other parks won’t be much affected…

Hi Dave,

We are booked in a studio in grand floridian villas for June 7th through the 14th. I have dining reservations in place and all and picked days using your fastpas+ high crowd itenerary mostly. I recently noticed that for the first sunday we are there, the 8th, hollywood studios has the last day of starwars weekends going on. Should we change our itenerary to avoid that? (although it does seem pretty cool) or will the last day be manageable? Thanks for any advice!

Dvae, thanks for catching this. I’d posted relevant changes for the prior week, but missed that week. I’ve fixed it now, so see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2013/11/30/required-itinerary-changes-for-the-week-beginning-may-31-2014/

In other words, it will be a zoo at the Studios that day, so avoid it!

We have to go in June due to a high schoolers schedule. I am really not looking forward to these huge crowds. Any tips on things to do with our small kids to still make it magical?

Im planning on visiting DW June 13-15. According to the weather channel its gonna be raining ALOT. What are the procedures if it does rain, any rain checks??

Rain has little effect at Disney World, so there’s no rain checks.
