AUGUST 2013 CROWDS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

August begins as one of the most crowded periods at Walt Disney World. Later in the month, as more and more school districts re-open for the fall, crowds diminish, and by its end, crowds are low.

On a crowd scale of 1-11, the weeks beginning 7/27, 8/3 and 8/10/13 all have crowd ratings of 9/high.  The week beginning 8/17 has a crowd rating of 6/moderate, and that beginning 8/24 has a crowd rating of 3/low.

AUGUST 2013 PRICES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

August hotel prices begin 50% higher than the lowest of the year at the values, 17% higher at the moderates, and 2% higher at the deluxes.

At the moderates and values, hotel prices drop on August 4 to near their lowest levels of the year, at 6% and 7% higher than the lowest of the year, respectively. Deluxe prices drop on 8/18 to the lowest level of the year.

These low levels continue the rest of the month.

AUGUST 2013 WEATHER AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

August weather is about as bad as Orlando gets: hot and humid, with afternoon storms common.

AUGUST 2013 OPERATING HOURS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Park operating hours vary by the day, and sometimes change without notice. It is rare for hours to be shorter than Disney has publicized, but Disney may lengthen them in response to unanticipated crowds.

The best way to keep up with operating hours is to check Disney’s official calendars, usually available six months in advance.
