Disney World Ticket Prices 2012 to Summer 2013
OVERVIEW: WALT DISNEY WORLD ADMISSION TICKET PRICES 2012 TO SUMMER 2013
(This page is sponsored by Undercover Tourist
.)
Three types of Walt Disney World prices are important to think about:
- Walt Disney World theme park admission ticket prices—the tickets that grant you admission to the parks
- Walt Disney World resort hotel prices, and
- Park and hotel food prices
This page focuses on Walt Disney World theme park admission ticket prices from summer 2012 until the summer of 2013, when, based on past practices, they will go up.
MORE DETAILS ON WALT DISNEY WORLD ADMISSION TICKET PRICES 2012 AND 2013: HOW THE TICKETS WORK

There are multiple types of Walt Disney World theme park tickets, but the one most relevant to most first time visitors is the Magic Your Way ticket, with the Park Hopper option.
You buy one theme park ticket for each person who will be three years old or older at the time of your visit (kids younger than three enter the parks for free.) The tickets have two pricing levels: one for kids who will be younger than ten at the time of your visit (but 3 or older) and the other for people ten or older.
When you buy your tickets, you also say how many “days” you want—from one to ten. Each “day” you buy permits unlimited visits to one theme park on one day. If you also add the Park Hopper option, you can make unlimited visits to any of the theme parks in one day–one theme park, two, three, or all four theme parks.
- For example, if you buy a three day ticket without the park hopper option, you could make two visits to the Magic Kingdom on day one, three visits to Epcot on day two, and two visits to the Animal Kingdom on day 3
- If you have a three day ticket with the park hopper option, you could for example make two visits to the Magic Kingdom and one to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on day one, one visit to Epcot and two to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on day two, and one to Epcot and two to the Magic Kingdom on day three
- What you can’t do without a park hopper ticket is visit more than one theme park one the same day. For example, you can’t, on November 25th, use one day of your three-day ticket to visit the Magic Kingdom, and another day of this same ticket to visit Epcot that same day. More than one theme park in a day requires a park hopper
You do not have to use your days all in a row boom boom boom—e.g. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Once you use your first day, you have 14 days to use all the days on your ticket. So on a three-day ticket you could visit the theme parks Monday, Thursday, and Sunday.
- You can also add days at the same price that you would have paid had you bought all those days at once, but have to do so no later than the day you use the last day of your original ticket (and within 14 days of the first day)
- So if you buy a three-day ticket, and realize a few days later that you need more days, you can add two days and they will cost only the difference between what you paid originally for a three day ticket, and what you would have had to have paid for a five day ticket, so long as you add these days no later than the day you use your third day
- You can also add stuff like the Park Hopper during the same day window at the same price as you would have paid when you first bought your ticket
However, you can’t “subtract” days if you overbuy.
HOW WALT DISNEY WORLD PRICES ITS THEME PARK ADMISSION TICKETS
1. While Disney typically increases ticket prices at least once a year—typically in the summer—it does not change theme park admission prices based on the seasons of the year, the way that it increases and decreases prices at its resort hotels. You pay the same amount for admission on the busiest and the least busy days of the year.
(This material, by the way, is updated as of Disney World’s June 2012 price increase, and applies to tickets bought in 2012 through Disney’s next price increase, likely in the summer 0f 2013.)
2. Disney sells tickets by the day—one through ten days. The way it prices these days, the first three days are very expensive, while days after the third are comparatively almost free. See the image for exact Disney World prices.
For example, a three day ticket costs (including tax) an adult $258, or an average of $86 a day. A ten day ticket would cost the same adult $339. The added 7 days cost in total around $81—or less than $12 per day.
3. A park hopper costs (after tax) about $37 for a one day ticket, and $61 for all other ticket lengths, regardless of whether you add it to a two-day, ten-day or anything in between. So a three day adult ticket with the park hopper added costs $319, and a ten day ticket with a park hopper costs $400.
I have also uploaded an excel spreadsheet with the same data in it as the image, so that you can multiply by the number of members of your own family.
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR WALT DISNEY WORLD THEME PARK TICKETS
There are other ticket types than the ones discussed above—less relevant for first time visitors. For details on all of them, see this page on MouseSavers.com.
While it’s hard to find discounts on tickets, it is sometimes possible. Check sponsor Undercover Tourist, MouseSavers.com, Triple A if you are a member, and if you have military ties, this page and also MilitaryDisneyTips.com.
Since you can add on to your tickets–days, park hoppers, etc.–, but can’t subtract, it doesn’t really pay to overbuy. Start with the minimum you think you need and add on later if needed. Remember to add no later than the day you use your current last day!
All of this site’s To-Do Lists tell you exactly what ticket type you need for their associated itineraries.

This is my first time to try finding a suitable travel plan to Disney World. I’m a little confused about what all the admission ticket gets you. Once inside the park, do you have to pay for the rides? What all do I need to plan on paying for inside the gates of the park?
Shannon, the ticket admitting you to the park allows you to then participate in all the attractions in it at no additional cost.* So all you need to pay for once inside is food drink and souvenirs.
*There’s a couple of trivial exceptions–e.g. a shooting gallery that costs a buck…
What are the Military Hopper prices for October and on 2012. I understood there was a special rate of 138.00 for a 4 day hopper ticket for the military but only through 30 September 2012. We arrive at Shades of Green 16 Ocotber through the 20th and need hooper ticlets for 10 people (9 over 10 and 1 3 year old).
Mike if you literally mean Military Salute, there has been no program announced for after Sept 2012, although one may be–see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/07/08/no-extension-for-disney-armed-forces-salute-fy2013-re-offer-still-possible/
Hi, we are planning to visit Walt Disney World for 3 or 4 days the first week of June 2013. Can we buy our tickets this far in advance without them expiring? Also, is it cheaper to buy at the gate or online? if you can’t tell, this is our first time planning a Disney vacation! Thanks for your help!
Hi Becky, you can buy them now and they won’t expire! There’s no price difference for online vs at the gate. Disney tends to raise prices in June (although price increase dates vary), so you actually may come out ahead if you buy them before then!
We are planning to visit WDW in the spring of 2014. How much do the ticket prices usually increase each year? I am wondering if it would be wise to buy tickets now to avoid the increase. I will be buying 9 tickets, all over 10.
Hi Leah, they go up anywhere from 3-10% per year…
i have a few questions on a few topics:
1) we plan to arrive around 8pm on a friday night 12/6/2013 , and relax and walk around the 1st night – we will have our 1st full day on sat 12/7/13 – WHICH ITINERARY DO YOU SUGGEST I USE? we are leaving mid afternoon the following Saturday – so that will not be a park day. Me, my husband and a 4 year old.
2) i will purchase my hotel, dining plan and park tickets for (park ticket for 5 days) now in 2012.

3) 180 days before my trip I will be calling disney to book my character meals – how do I use my dinning credits that I will have already paid for for these? WILL I HAVE TO PAY FOR THESE AND NOT BE ABLE TO USE MY CREDITS?
THIS SITE IS WONDERFUL – THANK YOU FOR YOUR EXPERIENCE AND DEDICATION!
Hi Rhonda, all my itineraries are designed for kids 8 and up, so I don’t have much to offer. Touringplans.com has itineraries for kids that young–see http://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/touring-plans Once you purchase your tix and rooms for 2013, you won’t have to pay any more when prices go up. And yes, you can use your credits!
If you add a day to multi-day pass you bought through AAA, is it Disneyworld (at the gate) that will allow you to pay the difference to admit for another day? I know the differential between the different day passes is the same as indicated on this chart (i.e., $14.91 adding one day to a 3-day; $12.78 added to 4-day).
Jay-yes, Disney will add at the gate based on Disney–not AAA–prices, at the nums you indicate. And remember you have to add the day before the end of the last day of use! So if it’s a three day ticket, you have to add the day before the end of your third entry day.
We have been trying to go to Disney for 10 years but it has been very tough financially due to our 2 special needs kids and my wife being ill for 6 years. Now we are planning a trip in November. We received 3 free nights from friends and now we are looking to see if there are any discounts for our special needs kids. Or some type of program that helps families in need. Please let us know.
Thanks.
Hi Darryl, there is a program for helping people with special needs with issue such as lines and such. The easiest way to find out about it is to get a copy of PassPorter’s Open Mouse for Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line: Easy Access Vacations for Travelers with Extra Challenges There’s no discounts that I know about…
Hi. You have posted some great stuff here. Just one question. How do you get passes that include shortened line times? I heard that you can pre-book attraction times whereby you arrive at an attraction at a set time and away you go. Is this correct and if so….what additional costs/conditions are there? Many thanks. Mike
Hi Mike, that’s a widely-speculated about plan, but has not been offered yet. In the meantime until it is, you can still use regular fastpasses, which come with your ticket for free. See this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/01/09/fastpasses-at-walt-disney-world/
is there military discounts on park and hotel year round?
Hi Donald, no there aren’t. The programs are not ongoing, and recently have been renewed from year to year as Disney chooses. The current program expires at the end of September 2013–see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/08/08/new-disney-world-armed-forces-salute-announced-fy-2013/
hey my husband and i are planning to visit Disney World on the 27th November to the 3rd December 2012 can you please tell me what would be the average cost for unlimited access to all park for both of us please……..
Hi Samantha, see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/06/03/disney-world-ticket-prices-2012-to-summer-2013/
We are planning a trip dec.2013 to jan 2014 (2 weeks) We are staying outside the Disney Resort but will get our tickets before we arrive. Is there a special line for ticket holders or do we have to wait in line with ticket buyers at the gate ? How long does it take to get into the parks at opening ? Is there a parking charge ? Thanks.
heading down to disney for christmas break…is christmas eve and day typicslly busy? Also what are the prices for parking as we are not staying on disney property?
Cathy, those are the busiest days of the year at WDW–so busy that the parks often close. See this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/11/30/park-closings-at-walt-disney-world/ Parking is $14/day. For a little help on coping with the crowds, see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/12/04/coping-disney-world-holiday-crowds/

Hi! I would like to go to Disney in December of 2013…I heard it was real cheap to go brfore the 20h of December…is this true? And if so…what is real cheap? There are 7 going..2 parents, a grandma a 3 year old, 5 year old 10 year old and 14 year old? Thanks!
Hi Candace!
The only Disney World prices that vary a lot by date are hotel prices, and they are fine in early December, but go up a ton on 12/13. See this for the details: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2011/09/04/walt-disney-world-2013-price-seasons/ So no, it isn’t cheap until the 20th…at least not in 2013!
Well to be frank it’s never cheap, but some times cost less than others…

do the hopper passes in the 4 parks include the ESPN entry or is there a ticket that includes ESPN as well? My daughter is cheering there in Feb and I heard there is a ticket for all parks and ESPN….thanks.
Hi Christine, regular hoppers do not include EPSN. For ESPN you can add the “water park and more” option to either a straight or a hopper ticket–see this: http://www.mousesavers.com/regular-walt-disney-world-ticket-prices/#magicplus

I will be going to work meetings in Orlando for three days, but would like to visit Disney World after 6 p.m. – on all three days if possible! Do I have to pay the full price of a day pass to go to the parks after say, 6pm and stay for the evening?
Hi Diane, yes, you do have to pay full price. You also want to check the schedules of the parks carefully as depending on when you are going the parks can close early…see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/07/05/how-to-use-the-online-park-calendars-at-walt-disney-world/

will WDW let you buy an admmission ticket for late arivals that is good fot he next day? ex. would be a 7pm purchase on day one that would include day 2 entrance to WDW
Carl, there’s no “late arrival” ticket. You can buy a ticket of any length from 1 to 10 days.
Hi Dave: Great site !! I’m from Costa Rica and plan to take my wife and kids to Disney on December as suggested. I already have ideas for Hotels but the tickets are complicated. Do you suggest to get them from Disney Online before June ( as prices may go up) or coulf I wait to actually arrive to Orlando ?
Hi Roberto, and thanks! You could get your tickets either way! Getting them sooner may save you a bit…

Hi, im visiting Florida for only a week and only plan on spending 2 days in Disney parks is it best that i pay at the gate on the day? If so what is the cost including taxes? And how long will be queuing for to get the tickets? I am traveling 20th April, i dont mind paying a little.more for advance one daughter tickets if it saves me an hour each day in a queue.
Thanks
Sorry previous message should not have said daughter it should have said day thanks
Hi Chris, prices are here: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/06/03/disney-world-ticket-prices-2012-to-summer-2013/
You buy a certain number of days–e.g. two–once. I’d advise buying them online well ahead of time and having them sent to you so that you miss any ticket-buying line at all. You can buy them here: http://bookwdw.reservations.disney.go.com/ibcwdw/en_US/_framework/components/processEngine?startOver=true&gatewayID=landing

Got it!
Thank you great site pleased you took the time to create and maintain it, one other thing do you know of any sites that offer Disney and universal tickets in a bundle?
Thanks Chris! So far as I can recall, Disney tix are never bundled with those of others. Disney wants all of your money.

How much is a childs (under 10) ticket?
Hi Jana, see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/06/03/disney-world-ticket-prices-2012-to-summer-2013/
Hi Dave,
Me and a couple of friends are thinking about going to WDW for a couple of days in Jan or feb of 2014. It’s been almost 20 years since I last visited park, so I’m a little lost on where to start. There’s so much information to find it’s a little overwhelming and confusing with all the different seasons and tickets. Can you help with a starting point? I would really appreciate it.
Ester, the best way to do this is to work through the topics on the home page–see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/

first time to wdw 4 adults 3 kids. want to also go to animal kingdom and lego land how many days should we plan to stay. do they have electric wheelchairs?
Hi Sherri, it depends on how old the kids are–so let me know that! You can rent electric scooters at the parks, or rent one for your entire vacation from several Orlando companies. BTW, Animal Kingdom is a Disney World park…

Hi Dave,
I’m a little confused with the Magic Your Way Base Ticket. Do I have to choose the parks that I’m going to visit each day before I purchase the tickets? or can I just decide the prior day of my visit were to go?
Hi Bri, no you don’t!
Just buy the number of days you expect to be in the parks–you can add more later if needed. Then you can visit any park, on any day within 14 days within your first day of use.
The only constraint is that with the base ticket you can only see one park per day. So if you start at Epcot, you can leave and come back later to Epcot that same day–but you can’t leave Epcot and that same day go to the Magic Kingdom.

We are arriving on an early morning flight and plan to check in online to our Disney Resort (Animal Kingdom) in advance. Will we able to use the pool and facilities while waiting for our 3pm check in? Thank you!
Hi Dave…thank you for taking your time to keep up such an amazing and informative sight. A quick question about when to purchase everything we will need for our trip. We are not planning to visit WDW until February 8-14, 2014, however, I am a little obsessed and am already into the beginning stages of the planning process. : ) I know from reading information on your site and mousesavers.com that I can go ahead and book a room anytime, and then later upgrade to a package. And I also know I cannot book meals until 180 days out (which is Aug. 12th for our dates). What I’m wondering about are the tickets/package deals. I know you said the prices will typically go up again this summer. My question is, can I buy tickets/packages before then (to get the better price), but not use them until Feb. 2014? If we wait until the 6 month mark (August) to buy them, I’m sure the ticket price will already have gone up. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. We are trying to save any money we can!
Thank you!
Hi Brooke, and thanks for the kind words!
Yes you can buy tix now, and not have to pay the price increase!!

If I purchase a park hopper pass and I am not staying at one of Disneys properties do I have to pay for parking at each park entered.
Hi Loretta, you only need to pay once. Keep the receipt, and show it at any pother park you go to that day!

Hello i would to take my kids to Disney world two boys both age 6 twins and one adult i want to stay three days four night. But question is how would it cost along with airfare in is it best to add food plan to the package or just buy the food. Also for my kids age what parks and hotel do you suggest we go and stay at. Thanks Wanda
Hi Wanda!
I can’t help with the price of airfare, but take a look at this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2010/03/01/air-travel-101-for-walt-disney-world/
For tickets, see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/2012/06/03/disney-world-ticket-prices-2012-to-summer-2013/
The dining plan won’t save much or perhaps any money, but can be handy as a budgeting tool.
For which hotels to stay in, in order by price class, see this: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-family-trip/where-to-stay/next-best-resort-choices/
For their current prices, see the links here: http://www.mousesavers.com/2013-walt-disney-world-resort-room-rates-season-dates/
Hope this helps! And if it does…

Hi Dave,
Will a Magic Your Way base ticket or a Magic with Park Hopper get us into the Water Parks,
or is that a separate type of ticket?
Where do we buy tickets?
Thanks for all of the charts…I’m running out of ink from printing them all!
Hi, nether of those ticket options will get you into the water parks. You get water parks tix either by adding to either of those tix the “Water Parks and More” option–which is usually a money loser if you intend just one day at the water park–or by buying the water park ticket online, or at the water park gate, or from your hotel concierge if you are staying at a WDW hotel…
Me and my family will be at WDW the week of Jun 17th 2013 and I will be in a wheelchair due to a car accident. I also wear a brace, but with that much walking I will need the wheelchair too. Is there any special pass for handicapp people to get on the rides quicker than waiting in the lines. If so, does this include me and my family members? I will be bringing my own wheelchair. Thanks!
Hi Lisa!
Disney has a guest assistance program, but it does not usually include shorter lines for chairs, as the thought is so long as you are not having to stand, time waiting is not a major imposition.
This varies a bit by ride, and there’s also other factors–I always suggest in circumstance like yours PassPorter’s Open Mouse for Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line: Easy Access Vacations for Travelers with Extra Challenges

Dear Dave,
Thank you so much for this site. It is amazing. I was wondering if I bought DW theme park tickets now would I be able to use them in 2014. I was not going to buy a vacation package from DW but get tickets separately unlike Brooke. If there was any price increase by 2014 would I have to pay the difference?
Hi Doreen and thanks!
Yes, based on how things have worked in the past, you can buy them at today’s prices and then use them in 2014 without paying any more then…

I am a FL resident and back in February this year, I bought your 4 days pass sale at the time. I know it expires in June…But can you remind me what day?
Hi Virginia! Well I’m just a guy with a website so they aren’t “my” tickets!
But according to this, you can use them through June 7: http://allears.net/pl/florid1.htm

Hi Dave,
Coming down May 27,2013, can you tell me if my grandaughter is 9 and will be turning 10 on May 26 will I have to buy adult ticket and if so why? Do they check child ID?
Verna, not sure what you mean by “why.” They will check birth dates as they please…
Are there any discounted ticket rates for groups? We have 15 (10 A/5Ch)
Hi Mary, I’m pretty sure there aren’t, but you may want to check with a travel agent…

Hi Dave, we are planning a trip to WDW during 9/31/13-10/6/13. We decided to stay outside Disney for a better deal. My question is, is it cheaper to buy park tickets now or do they have Fall season deals that’s cheaper than it is currently?
Carissa, ticket prices typically go up once a year, and then don’t vary til the next increase, and are not put on deals. If you buy now, you’ll miss the next increase–which could come out any day now!

Hi Dave, we’re planning our first visit to WDW with my kids(7yrs, 4yrs & 11mths) the week of July 13′ we decided to stay outside the resort. I’m confused what kind of ticket are the best option, we’ll be back to the hotel for a nap and come back to the parks in the afternoon … what do you suggest us?, buy the tickets online before June or wait to arrive to Orlando? also We’re AAA member but I don’t know if they offer any discount, I need check with them.
Thx!!
Hey Carolina, ticket prices likely will be going up soon, so buy your tix ASAP. Some AAA regions have (minor) discounts, others don’t. Definitely worth checking. I would start with plain old Magic Your Way tix with no add-ons. If while at WDW you decide an add-on, like a park hopper, would be useful, you can add it then.

Thanks Dave for your time!
