New Shades of Green Discount

By Dave Shute

SHADES OF GREEN OCTOBER DISCOUNT

Steve at Militarydisneytips.com has some news about a new discount at Shades of Green! His material follows:

Dave, first thanks for letting me share news about some cost cutting information for your military readers!

Shades of Green is an Armed Forces Recreation Center, operated by Army Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) on Disney World property.

Shades of Green is located in the former Disney Golf Resort close to the Magic Kingdom. Army MWR at first leased the property and then purchased it to offer military members a perfect place to unwind from their stressful careers.

Shades of Green is equivalent to a deluxe Disney Resort, boasting some of the largest rooms on property, at rates well below Disney’s comparable hotels. It participates in Extra Magic Hours, but not the Disney Dining Plan or Magical Express

Shades also sells discounted Disney theme park tickets at 5 to 10 percent off based on length of stay and options purchased.

Shades of Green is also able to offer overflow rates—when it is full, it can offer roughly 20% discounts on Disney resorts.

During 2010 Shades of Green also offered quite a few different discounted Disney packages for the military. Their packages ranged from room only discounts to packages which included varying numbers of meals and up to 10 dollars off park tickets. Most of these offers were timed to end at the same time Disney’s military discounts ended, on 30 September 2010.

There’s been quite an uproar in the military community due to Disney’s 2010 Military Salute ending, leaving many people disappointed that they were unable to take advantage of the offer due to deployment schedules.

Many are trying to decide if they can afford to go to Disney without these discounts. While waiting to see if Disney will offer military discounts for 2011, armed forces members will have to look elsewhere for savings to make a Disney vacation a reality.

Shades of Green has stepped up with a new offer valid from the 1st through the 31st of October 2010. They’re calling it their Last Chance Offer.

The offer consists of three nights accommodations, three breakfast buffets and three dinner buffets in the Garden Gallery restaurant, all for $329.00. (Based on double occupancy, kids 9 and under free, 10 and over an additional $20.)

Shades of Green’s rooms normally go for $95 and $123 based on rank for a standard room. You can see that with the meals added in this makes for decent savings. They also continue to offer OIF/OEF packages for those deployed in support of these operations with 20 percent room and dining discounts.

Thanks Steve!
